@RamsdenVerity Before I pray an Office alone, I call to mind friends, church communities of which I have been/am a part, the church militant and the church triumphant. It then feels very much a ‘joining in’ with the prayer of the church.

New Year’s resolution is to pray at least one daily office each day. Am using an app to help me, but any tips on how to do it well without feeling like a bit of a wally just sitting whispering it all to myself?

An incredibly stimulating and moving Annual Precentors’ Conference in Rome, reflecting on ecumenical dialogue, liturgy and the relationship between worship and mission. All topped off by meeting His Holiness Pope Leo XIV!

Out and about this morning. Splendid to be with the fine folk of St Swithun’s Hempsted for their Eucharist. Always a warm welcome, prayerful worship and a cracking cup of coffee!

@MadsDavies You’re right. Augustine on ‘memory’ is importantly here: there is a reality, which we can only glimpse for now, but of its existence we can be certain.

Listening to podcast conversation on doubt and the suggestion that ‘certainty isn’t something we were ever promised.’ I don’t know. Yes we see through a glass darkly. But also I feel the Bible celebrates strong faith, tells us to pray for its increase, ‘sure of what we hope for’

Out and about in the diocese. This time to the bucolic Turkdean, to preside at Matins with Holy Communion. This place is a testament to the fact that rural churches can grow. Confident liturgy, beautiful music and warm hospitality. All good ingredients for growth!

@turtology 1) Say your prayers in church each day and let people know. Ring the bell! 2) Honour the people already there: they’ll likely want to grow with your help. 3) Get out and about in the community: school, pub, shops, streets.

You’re an Anglican cleric put in charge of a small parish that has been in decline for a solid decade now. In the hope that you can turn the place around, what are 3 things you’re going to immediately implement (outside of Sunday morning)?

It’s always good to be out and about in the diocese. This morning I was with the fine folk of Quenington on their first Sunday in vacancy.
