There are 42 files, spanning 2757 pages, which mention Permindex. If Permindex "doesn't matter" then why in 1967 was the CIA internally researching it to figure out what Clay Shaw was doing and determining what Clay was doing for CIA? I haven't dug into Permindex, know nothing about it, so i have no opinion. But if CIA was interested in it, then that makes it interesting. Browsing through a couple of the files and I can see there's interesting leads in here related to Clay Shaw and DRE. Even more interesting are the ARRB files from the 1990's about it, one of the files is a "topic index", with a road map about tons of other CIA files about other interesting topics. You know how it goes, you start looking in the files for one topic, then one thing leads to another, you never know what you're going to get, and it just goes on and on forever, there is no bottom.

Before I investigated the case, nightclub owner Jack Ruby's murder of Oswald—62 years ago today—was why I thought there was likely a conspiracy in the JFK assassination. It took a couple of years of research to disabuse me of that idea. I uncovered the serendipity that independently put Ruby and Oswald at the crossroads of history. One of the interviews that @trishaposner and I did in 1992 was with Jim Leavelle, memorialized forever as the tall police detective with the large white Stetson hat, looking on in shock as Ruby shot Oswald. Leavelle thought that Trisha and I might get a better idea of the case if he put us in the handcuffs that he had on Oswald that fateful day :-) Below is a 🔗 to my 2022 article "Just Terrible Strange," a timeline of the odd morning that led to Oswald's murder.
