It is currently happening only in the US for some reason; however, it happened also in Turkey earlier-> my late uncle, who was an academic in the field of physics at a prominent Turkish university, used to say that the current acceleration in global technology is not a “natural cycle” but is influenced by “unknown” sources, and it so happens that his former professor and several academic colleagues, who had been employed at an important Turkish research organization, were all killed in a plane crash.

@BobCarter_MAES @mistressdivy @grok isn’t the wayback machine, Web archive being blocked or something by somebody?
English

@mistressdivy Nothing is really lost if you go to web archive . You can enter the web address of any site, active or not and most of the time you can see that site just as it was when it was online and every time it was updated

@AIandDesign I’m so glad to see this post after kind of the negative one you did the other day about YouTube and AI. I was getting worried.
English

Here’s my savage take on YouTube cracking down on AI content.
Congrats, haters. You played yourself.
Strap in. It’s gonna be a ride.
YouTube was never trying to stop AI.
It was trying to make sure you couldn’t win with it.
That’s the part a lot of people still don’t get.
The dream was never “protect human creativity.”
The dream was always to push independent creators out, let the public do the moral panic for free, and clear the field for corporations to industrialize the exact same technology at scale.
So now here we are.
Not just obvious slop getting hit.
Not just lazy garbage.
People putting in real effort, real taste, real craft, real time — getting demonetized because the scarlet letters are now simply: made with AI.
And that was always the endgame.
AI video is not going away.
It was never going away.
You were just never supposed to be the one building a life with it.
The corporations want generative AI.
They love generative AI.
They just don’t want the public using it to become powerful, independent, competitive, or financially free.
They want AI in the hands of studios.
Platforms.
Advertisers.
Enterprise.
Their partners.
Their golden children.
Not you.
You get the lectures.
They get the leverage.
You get told your work is fake.
They get to mass-produce “acceptable” synthetic content and pipe it straight into every surface you use.
So congratulations to every hysterical anti-AI crusader who thought they were fighting the machine.
You weren’t fighting the machine.
You were clearing its runway.
And now the future arrives exactly as predicted:
ordinary creators strangled, corporate slop everywhere, and the same people who helped cause it pretending to be shocked.

@AIandDesign Wow yeah! And it’s Tascam, ashame they went to shit. We use a Tascam X8 for audio recording actually.
English

@GFCreboot For example, look at this modern day cassette deck. You can buy this right now at Crutchfield.
It has NO noise reduction and absolutely laughable specs. Yet it costs about the same amount I paid for my Onkyo which absolutely destroys this in every aspect.

English

I got one of these coming through UPS. Bought on eBay from a guy in Canada. The orange shitlord slapped me with a tariff on it (WTF? Why? Is this "winning"?) but still worth it. The best deck Onkyo has ever produced.
Can't wait!
And yeah I know I'm a weird retro nerd.

@GFCreboot @BobbyDa68809572 Sure is! LOL. Even X gave me some sort of warning the other day 😕

@AIandDesign Interesting. You know what I miss, 80’s / 90’s car radios. youtube.com/shorts/dBigBl1…

As an audio guy I can tell you that most "modern retro gear" is a cash grab and crappy in quality compared to properly working vintage gear. For example, modern turntables tend to have specs that suck compared to 80's tables. Modern cassette decks typically lack Dolby or DBX NR because Dolby Labs simply doesn't license that anymore so you'll be listening to tons of tape hiss. Modern CD players are cheaply built unless you get a truly high end one.
The whole "they don't make 'em like that anymore!" thing truly applies to most audio gear except for high-end gear. And in some cases (like with cassette decks for example) there simply is no modern high end equivalent available.
That said, boomboxes are a special category. The really cool ghetto blasters from the 80s are expensive AF because they have become a true cult item at this point. If you find one of those in good shape they're probably going to be expensive!

The deaths or disappearances of at least 10 people connected to sensitive U-S research now under FBI investigation. @NatashaChenCNN breaks down what we know as the conspiracy theories about these individuals won't die down.

@JeffGrimmie @CodeWriter23 @BrianRoemmele lol what? That’s what taxis are for! Saving lies by driving people who had too much to drink on weekends.
English

@CodeWriter23 @BrianRoemmele Banded for life and walking from now on. People will get the point pretty quickly.

@RandoPicto @beyoncegarden Adults* fixed it for you. You’re saying, a man can’t stand up for his family for his sons? GTFO
