@757Cam @drboycewatkins1 Other studies have shown a discriminatory practice in regards to school discipline, as early as preschool. Yes, we as Black people need to do better, but let’s not overlook systemic racism.

@drboycewatkins1 Serous question, I’m not trolling. Could this be from their own personal behavior and not external factors? Both when I was in school and now as a LEO, it’s they way a lot of these kids act that hurts them. Most that get in this type of trouble, in my area at least, are black.

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, black students are significantly more likely than their white peers to be suspended, expelled, or arrested in public schools. The report found that black students represent 18% of the students in the sample studied, but accounted for 35% of the students suspended once, 44% of those suspended more than once, and 36% of students expelled. In addition, black students represented 27% of students referred to law enforcement, and 31% of students subjected to a school-related arrest. But if you read the literature, it says that they were getting suspended more for the exact same offenses as well so after a pattern of discriminatory punishment, students began to act the way they were treated
