From the trenches in the SF housing search: It is so insane. Feels like peak mania. People are bidding on places, especially "nice" places, like they are the last home on earth. Rentals are going within a day after bidding wars. Homes are selling for millions over ask, Follow @rohindhar to see examples. If you're in a rent controlled spot, do not dream of moving. If you're moving to SF, good luck!

@sarthakgh Or removing rent control, which locks in tenants, reduces rental housing supply, and artificially raises prices for everyone else

Reminder: Waymo is so safe that if every car was driven like a Waymo, about 9% of America's life expectancy gap would disappear. 9 percent! Americans die in car accidents *that often*.
Crémieux tweet media
Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil

About 10% of America's life expectancy shortfall is due to motor vehicle accidents—fixed by Waymo and Tesla. About 18% is overdoses—that's fading now. And the lion's share of the rest is obesity-related. America will soon be buying its way out of its poor life expectancy issue.

As someone who has driven up and down the West coast, and through each and every one of those cities in particular, I think this is a terrible idea. Most of those places are tiny and with no need of high speed rail. Highway 1 that connects them is one of the most beautiful and scenic drives in the country, surrounded by pristine unspoiled nature for long stretches. A major construction project would destroy all of it.
Mark R. Brown, AICP, CNU@CompletedStreet

Imagine this, but with every city connected with high speed rail.

Yes Anduril has a pretty solid track record of predicting the future of warfare so when they have a new hidden page on their website you better pay attention. Game on anduril.com/subterranean/f…

Anduril co-founder @traestephens: "The things we were building weren't really clear until very recently that this was the future of warfare. Had we gotten that bet wrong, the company wouldn't have worked." "We need a lot of companies out there making bets about where the future is headed so that by the time we enter into that future we actually have the capabilities, the products, the technology that are required." @geoffreywoo Why wouldn’t Claude and Codex just make the software on their own instead of using another SaaS product’s APIs

Replace your current fear with a bigger one. Some of the best risk takers in history had traumas so deep that business failure wasn’t even a real fear by comparison. Don’t believe you need to have experienced deep trauma to overcome your fears. You need to put it into perspective. Just ask yourself “how bad can this actually get?” I first came across this concept in “Who Knew” by Barry Diller. His personal fear was so consuming that business risk was irrelevant. He went on to build a media empire.
