@groenevis @keysmashbandit for the majority of human history, sheep and other animal wool was used waaaaaaay more than cotton to make clothes, especially cheap clothes. america is kinda weird in how heavily they relied on cotton in the early days.

The thing I feel most cognitively dissonant about when thinking about history is how much time everyone spent being physically uncomfortable. Heavy itchy wool, greasy hair, too cold or hot. If I try to imagine myself doing daily life circa 1704 I get immediately blocked by that

The true story behind this is even more sickening: the dogs were kidnapped from their owners homes and loaded up into a truck going to an (illegal) meat shop, these dogs fell out of the truck during transport, managed to navigate back home.

@bookofflesh @vers_laLune Yes there are methods to memorize and read shit faster. Like using flashcards instead of passively recopying notes. Or first skimming the reading before reading again so you know where to pay attention.
