Learned more about the NHL CBA — and hockey in general — than I ever imagined I would know editing his Sunday Slap Shots column for years, but more importantly learned what a gifted writer and reporter he was, how easy he was to work with and how much he cared about the job. RIP.

American mass media has been designed to inflame and divide since the literal earliest days of the republic. But the tech gets more insidious and ubiquitous with each passing generation. 24-hour news was bad enough. Now we literally keep it in our pocket and check it like a watch

I can't remember the EXACT timeline but I think I did this two years for him. One year the onions on the pizza upset someone's stomach. This year -- like, in three days -- he was gonna finally come into the office for Selection Sunday. First time since pandemic.

I have reached the pinnacle of my career: Ordering delivery pizza to John Feinstein for Selection Sunday because he can't come into the office. I will never forget our conversation trying to come up with an appropriate delivery spot. Truly, this is why I got into this biz.

@AndyGlockner @tsnmike @BenStandig I think the product has vastly improved compared to recent years, at least among the major conferences. Big Ten games used to be unwatchable with 62-60 finals, now almost every game is in the 70s, 80s. Not sure if it's the older portal guys, less flopping, but it's better.

I don’t watch a lot of AL baseball and play in an NL-only fantasy league.
So when the playoffs roll around I really enjoy learning about all these unhittable relievers I had never heard of.
