The Greer-Offord face-off may prove to be a turning point in Scottish politics. It brought into the open the class envy and warfare, entitlement and miserable lack of aspiration that has lain under so much of Scottish politics for decades. It may, I hope, have lanced a boil on the body politic, exposing the SNP, Greens, Labour and Lib Dems as populist grifters, the enemies of ambition and economic growth.

Researchers Sara Solnick and David Hemenway did a study 1998. Graduate students to choose between two hypothetical worlds with identical prices for goods and services:
World A: You earn £50,000 a year, while others earn £25,000
World B: You earn £100,000 year, while others earn £200,000
Around 50% of respondents chose World A, preferring to be twice as rich as their peers, over being twice as rich themselves, but half as rich as their peers.
