@minjiecai Hi Minjie! As chance would have it I heard a work by Florence Price on Radio 3 last week. Enjoyed it. Minded to chase up more of her works. Hope you are well. G

If you were walking along a river that looked like the beautiful River Esk in Dumfries and Galloway, could you say it was Esk-esque? Thank you for reading this tweet.

@oakroyd @ricmontg The logic of the marketing guys at the time was that the fags didn’t ruin your singing voice. I’m guessing that by the 60s the fibs of the baccy industry had been called out and the brand association with the great tenor seemed a bit ridiculous.

@GreenManOfKent @jdpoc If only the Remoaners would ‘Get behind Brexit’ and ‘Back Britain’ then It would cease to rain and Willesborough would be elevated by 200 feet.

Due to 'unexpected flooding' 'unspecified unforeseen delays' and 'engineering challenges' the main Kent Lorry Park for post-#Brexit Customs clearances will not be ready for operations until end of February or early March. (Local Kent source)

@GreenManOfKent @MarieAnnUK Same with Trump in the US. He makes Reagan and the Bushes in hindsight seem like FD Roosevelt. But at the time we knew them to be sociopathic robber barrons.

@MarieAnnUK It seemed it at the time, but in retrospect no. That’s how they rehabilitate themselves. By making the present so terrible, you start getting nostalgic for Thatcher and Major.

@curious_kent The Granville at Street End features in ‘Moonraker’. Could it be there?

#ianfleming #jamesbond I am researching Ian Fleming's links to #kent and keep coming across the fact that he dined in a hotel in #canterbury prior to his fatal heart attack. Does anyone know which hotel this was?

@jameskennell Also, it demonstrates why the conservation of the environment shouldn’t need to rely on markets.

This is another really interesting example of how the collapse in international travel is not just bad for business, but bad for communities and (sometimes) bad for the environment

After many lockdown walks in parks, feel that there's room for some guerilla bench plaque action. This is my suggestion. What's yours?

@HannahPerkin Sigh! Austerity depresses aggregate demand. The fiscal stimulus from the furlough scheme means debt (at historically low rates) in the short term but is more than paid for in the long run. Plus you don’t have the social costs of unemployment.

In discussion on whether to extend the furlough scheme which is keeping small businesses from going under and thousands of people employed, Kent County Councillor says "not my generation that will suffer having to pay it back so if you're happy, good luck".....
andrew bowles@lambertleese

@HannahPerkin Dosn’t make me wrong. Not my generation who will suffer trying to repay so if you are happy, OK good luck.
