Full disclosure, I am very pro-Israel and consider Shadi Hamid an enemy.
That said, the people saying “they need to assimilate” opened themselves up to this line of attack by steadfastly refusing to define what assimilation meant.
For months now, we have been seeing Whites trashing Indians for…living in suburban houses, going to Costco, and having their kids do Boy Scouts. Some of these Indians are dressing in jeans and buying F150s to boot.
It is clear that no matter what we do, we’ll always be seen as the “other.” So why bother?

The war is a bad thing, yes. The Islamic regime in Iran is also bad, however, and viewing it as some sort of heroic underdog requires either great ignorance or a warped understanding of morality. Both of which Fuentes has displayed many times.
