While countries like Burkina Faso are rejecting such deals, Nigeria is accepting them just for the funds the UK offers. At what point will our leaders be principled enough to stop accepting these aids disguised as Trojan gifts? One might think that the funds will be put to better use but they will end up in private pockets for re-election bids.

📌 📌 📌.... STOP MISLEADING NIGERIANS @Oludeewon @instablog9ja. Authoritatively speaking. THIS DEAL IS STRICTLY FOR NIGERIANS WITH NIGERIA PASSPORT ASYLUM SEEKERS WHO FAILED.. STRICTLY NIGERIANS (NOTHING LIKE CRIMINALS. IT IS FOR NIGERIANS WHO ARE STRANDED IN UK)
Instablog9ja@instablog9ja

UK to Begin Deportation of Failed Asylum Seekers, Cr+minals to Nigeria Under New Agreement Nigeria has signed a new agreement with the United Kingdom allowing British authorities to deport failed asylum seekers, visa overstayers, and cr+minal offenders to the country. The deal was signed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to the UK, the Home Office announced. Under the agreement, Nigeria will accept deportees using “UK letters,” alternative identification documents issued to migrants without valid passports. British officials said this removes a key administrative obstacle that previously delayed deportations. About 961 Nigerian failed asylum seekers who have exhausted their appeals, along with 1,110 Nigerian foreign national offenders awaiting removal, are expected to be affected by the arrangement. Both countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation against immigration fra¥d and cr+minal networks exploiting visa systems through joint operations and intelligence sharing. Tunji-Ojo said Nigeria’s participation reflects its commitment to fulfilling international obligations, while UK officials stated the partnership would help tackle illegal migration and ensure those who break immigration laws are removed.

NIS INTRODUCES NEW UPDATE TO AID APPLICANTS' PASSPORT TRACKING The Nigeria Immigration Service has updated its passport tracking system. The Service observes that hundreds of passports produced had remained uncollected, leading to increasing complaints from applicants. The new addition, tagged "PRODUCED (PASSPORT PRODUCED, READY FOR COLLECTION)", includes a feature informing applicants when their passports are ready for collection. This update enhances the existing tracking system, and helps applicants stay informed about timelines for passports produced and awaiting collection (for physical collection) or produced but not delivered (for courier delivery). Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to delivering an efficient system that works for all in line with global best practices.

It’s been over two years & my passport hasn’t been printed till today
Nathaniel Godwin 🇳🇬🇺🇸@Naplaymaker

I have been screaming “Omo!!” in disbelief! Nigeria has left me in total shock! WITHOUT LEAVING MY HOUSE, PASSPORT WAS PRODUCED IN TWO DAYS AND DELIVERED TO MY DOOR! 😱 Here’s the gist. I randomly realized that the Nigerian passport of someone VERY CLOSE to me was expiring in a few months time and we needed to get it renewed ASAP. So I took on the responsibility to get it done. I started contacting a few folks to see if they had any “connect” at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC or the Consulate in Atlanta, GA, because I’ve always dreaded the thoughts of renewing a Nigerian passport due to many gory stories I’ve heard about the process.🥶 Anyways, I got a few advice on what to do/some connects as well. But what stood out to me? A couple of folks said they renewed their passports without leaving their houses and got it done and sent to them in 1-3 months. Ehn!! Of course I’ve read some good stories online but as with our dear Nigeria - “seeing is believing.”😏 After much agitation, fear and doubt, we decided to use the contactless renewal system. We filled the application online, took the biometrics with our phone, uploaded a passport photograph and boom! Payment time! I was like “God Abeg o - I no get time to go fight with anybody for that office o” 😣🤣 We paid $230 for booklet fee and $100 for contactless fee (PS: there’s a $50 money order to be paid too). We sent the old passport to the Nigerian Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia and USPS showed that it arrived there 3 days later. After some days, I went to check the tracking number, it was still processing but no sign of the new booklet being shipped to me yet. Yesterday! I checked the application online portal, to my surprise, it was on the last step. I saw: “✅ Passport Produced, Ready for Collection” and last step “✅Passport Issued/Collected”… I didn’t believe it and I told myself it must be an error because that was way too quick 😂 was like ahh! Let me check the USPS Mail Tracking code first … Lo and behold! It showed that the Passport will be delivered to my house that same day by evening. I first shouted “What!!” “How”! I was in disbelief because it was too fast and too hassle-free to be true! Something that you’d need to pay bri^e and wait almost for eternity to get? And now, it’s showing I will get it so quickly without leaving my house or paying anyone? Wait for the biggest shocker! Being curious, I checked the tracking history, and I saw that the passport was produced in only 2 DAYS after my shipped file of money order and old passport arrived the Atlanta Consulate and on the third day it was given to USPS to send to my house. And USPS delivered the old and new passports to my house safely, as seen in the photo. So, I know we’re quick to criticize Government but this is me giving you your flowers, Honourable minister, @BTOofficial and the @nigimmigration. I hope that other public services will be as efficient as this and that bad eggs won’t spoil this good work. Nigeria must be great! 🇳🇬

The ₦300,000 "Magic Key" Here is the reveal: To move your application past that Assistant Director's desk, a "Validation Fee" of ₦300,000 per slot is being demanded. Note: This fee is NOT on the portal. It is NOT in any official Ministry circular. (4)

THREAD: The Digital Ransom at the Ministry of Interior. When the UK government decided to move from physical BRP cards to e-visas in 2025/2026, the transition was FREE. Why? Because the government recognized that it was THEIR decision to upgrade the system. (1)

Let me also state very clearly that I paid for my passport to be delivered to an address. In a normal world where Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo digitalised the process as frequently trumpeted, that passport should be in my possession by now if it was indeed ready. I should no longer have a business with the NIS website or their physical office...
'Fisayo Soyombo@fisayosoyombo

In January 2024 when I wrote that “Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo will NEVER be able to revolutionise Nigeria’s messily-corrupt passport application system”, some accused me of prophesying doom. But it is now six months since I paid and applied for the renewal of my international passport. Maybe I will get it tomorrow. On Thursday July 31, 2025, I paid a sum of N109,700 via the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) payment portal, then proceeded to one of their Lagos offices, to complete further documentation and capture. Meanwhile, the officers first mocked us for kick-starting the registration online. I couldn’t complete capturing on that day due to a “network problem” that lasted several hours; I was forced to return to their office the following day for that. As I write this, “passport pending production” is the long-running feedback from NIS. The irony is that Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo continues to be lauded by the unsuspecting public as one of the best — even the best — ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet. It is already almost five months since Tunji-Ojo announced, in the latest of his many mouthwatering passport efficacy promises, that Nigerians would be able to receive their int’l passports one week after application. My opinion of him remains unchanged; he is simply the typical Nigerian politician who has a mastery of gallery play and public sentiment manipulation via the media for personal branding. Woe unto you if you rely on media reports to gauge the performance of public officers or, more importantly, the efficiency of public institutions!
