We’re probably going to hit 700 followers tomorrow. This milestone may seem mundane to many, but for myself, this is a huge accomplishment. I’ve always been unashamed in broadly sharing my political & religious beliefs on Twitter, which in August of last year was to my detriment. I put out a series of tweets exerting things that I believed or thought that I believed in the most inflammatory manner possible, (intentionally), looking for as many opponents as possible to engage in good-spirited debate with. Within minutes, my positions were straw-manned, and I was being harassed for beliefs that I didn’t even hold. In total, I’d lost hundreds of followers & my ties to many large figures in the community were cut. I was under the impression at that time that if every single person didn’t fully understand you and accept you, you had to convince them to. So this event took an extremely serious toll on my mental health, which was already at one of its lowest points ever. Unrelated to this event, I was having panic attacks often, I had constant, unending 24/7 anxiety, and I had no relationship with God. So of course, this wasn’t incredibly easy to move past. For months to come, I was only losing followers daily and none of my posts were getting any traction. To avoid allowing this mess to spill onto my YouTube channel, I basically quit Twitter for a few months. Eventually, I started posting regularly again, and now this account is doing amazingly. If you still have no respect for me, that’s your right. I don’t care enough to convince you otherwise. I appreciate everybody out there that kept supporting me, even when it wasn’t incredibly popular to do so. Thank y’all, much love, more to come in the future. - Davis
