Just completed my first 24hour stroke call as a new stroke fellow at one of the busiest stroke centers in the U.S, Grady Memorial Hospital/Emory University Hospital!

@Criticalsri1 wow, so thorough! it's a lot of parts to remember within the acronym, but certainly a good way of organizing my thoughts! Thank you!

@whodat909 love love love nurses! definitely will be a little scary hahah thank you!
English

@IvieMDMPH Ask tons of questions. Don’t feel bad if you feel like you have no idea what is going on (you’re there to learn). Nurses are incredibly helpful. It will be scary but that’s normal
English

@AntunesMargaret that's a great piece of advice that i wouldn't have thought to do - thank you!

@IvieMDMPH If you get any new ostomy patients make sure to consult the ostomy nurses! It seems so basic but often the surgery teams punt consults to the ICU team and then it just doesn’t happen

@JTopinMD just checked it out - full of such great gems! thank you!

@seetrips oh yes, i already know nurses are going to be my very best friends! and yes, we can do so much for those in the ICU! I want to do right by them.
English

@IvieMDMPH 1. the nurses are a valuable resource, they know where everything is, ask them.
2. the patients come to the ICU because they are high risk for decompensation/actively dying. think of it as, without ur intervention, they might have died, remember them on days that are difficult

Very late to the game, but I finally created a #MedGradWishlist ! If you'd be willing to support me during this time of transition, that would be so appreciated! 👇
