there are people on this earth who still believe that 1. there is a legitimate QB competition in minnesota and 2. that jj will win it and is preferred qb by the org

@PurpyNFL We'll yeah, I agree it earned objective recognition! Seeing a movie in a packed theater while it's saturating pop culture will always give it more power, that's all I'm saying. Especially when you're young and haven't experienced anything like it.

@JVSwaps Well then you just can’t really have any debate about art. It had the most prolific awards sweep of any movie ever so they are very well regarded critically.

I understand that Zoomers are oversaturated with an entire lifetime of people gassing up these movies but they really are that good. I really like the Dune movies and I’m very excited to watch the third one but I’m sorry it’s not in the same ballpark

@PurpyNFL I think it's objectively one of a kind, extremely popular, and will never be replicated on that scale. But Best Ever/favorite is obviously subjective and heavily influenced by the time you grew up in.

@JVSwaps Well yeah but I don’t think it’s just that. The visuals, score, and effects of LOTR are incredible. And also Dune 1 just does not stand alone that well as its own movie where all three LOTRs do

@tejfbanalytics Is there one name attached to it? I think Darnold just happens to be the most recent one with the most success. We've seen Tannehill, Goff, Geno, Baker, Darnold, and Jones have mid-late career breakouts. It feels like that's enough to justify a new term.

it’s funny that the “sam darnold jump” is now the new “josh allen leap” it can happen as we’ve seen darnold, baker mayfield and daniel jones all be first round picks who had success in new environments. however, there’s a reason there’s one name attached to it and it’s not called something like “the year five surge”

@CDonnick1 A lot of Vikings fans turned on him when he was cut(!) by the Vikings and dared to say that he wanted to go to a competitive team. Oh the horror!

Kinda embarrassing that so many Vikings fans have hate for an undrafted Minnesota kid who defied all odds and became a star for them just because at the end of his career they egregiously overpaid back for him and he wanted a small shot at a ring after the team was already cooked
Minnesota Vikings@Vikings

End of an era for two Minnesota natives who defied the odds and became #Vikings Legends. @cjham28 and @athielen19 will retire as Vikings on Thursday.

I’ve actually seen 16 this century, that’s pretty good. No Country and LOTR are goated. Oppy, also goated. Understand they are criticized as dudeslop, but Departed and Gladiator great. EEAAO, Hurt Locker, poop from my butthole.

@Krauserrific @SkolGjallarhorn KOC, Flores, and Rob will be working together but there's no question that the coaches will continue to have prominent voices. Hiring the GM is a completely different caliber of influence. I don't believe anyone who says his job is guaranteed if he misses the playoffs.

@JVSwaps @SkolGjallarhorn KOC already has control in all but name Kwesi got fired because he (deservedly) lost a power struggle with KOC. His reputation around the league is bad, and KOC's is excellent (much better than with Vikings fans)

@Krauserrific @SkolGjallarhorn It's loud and clear that they haven't given him Andy Reid levels of control, probably because he hasn't even won a playoff game. Hopefully that changes soon (I think it will)

@Krauserrific @SkolGjallarhorn They've already proven you wrong by firing Kwesi. That's a potential "long-term relationship" cut short for failing to reach expectations. They will move on from him if he cannot find success this year. They will not be giving him full control.

@JVSwaps @SkolGjallarhorn well they're not going to repeat 2025 because he has an actual QB this year I don't think you understand the Wilfs. They want to be the Steelers or the Mara-era Giants, with long-term relationships KOC is their guy now, so he has a long enough leash to reset (as they're doing)

@SkolGjallarhorn @Krauserrific 🎯 Once someone is selected as a fall guy, heads don't stop rolling until the team gets results. All eyes are on KOC now. Ownership won't be complacent if he repeats 2025.

If things go south, I think it’s absolutely on the table. He needs to start producing results, which hasn’t really happened yet. He might have some input on the next GM, but he’s not going to be the one picking him. People said I was crazy for thinking Kwesi could get fired even after the extension, too

@SkolGjallarhorn so you think they’re going to fire KOC after he picks the GM this spring, but before they have a chance to work together for even one draft/offseason

@JVSwaps This has nothing to do with who the QB is. It’s just a KOC issue

I don't think it's the end of the world if Kyler Murray shakes up Kevin O'Connell's system.

@AndyS2504 Kevin O'Connell giving McCarthy more than he could chew doesn't mean he's unwilling to make adjustments to his offense. They're constantly adjusting the offense. Sometimes the player isn't good enough to take full advantage of it.

@PurpyNFL He doesn't trust him as an NFL starter, clearly. It won't really be a competition between JJ & Kyler even if it's spun that way. I'm not bailing him out and pretending he's being forced to deal with JJ. This is fully on him. I'll believe he hates him when they trade him.

@eastgorteau We were begging him to find a playmaker after the Kirk & Darnold playoff collapses. He was ultimately too reckless but Dobbs was cooking in this offense when plays broke down.

@NicholasMMiller I think the ultimate goal this year is to figure out definitively if Kevin O'Connell is the guy... If that means getting saddled with his version of Goff/Purdy/Jones then I think it could be worth it.

I understand we will cross that bridge when we get there but the absolute worst place to be right now in the NFL is paying top dollar to a non-elite QB. Basically the Kirk years all over again. That pathway seems like the most likely option to me right now and I hate it.

I think the ultimate goal this year is to figure out definitively if Kyler is the guy. The worst case scenario, and the one I fear most, is that Kyler isn’t great or awful, just middling, and the team delude’s themselves into giving him the bag due to lack of other options.
