The German website doesn’t suddenly drop their VAT when my basket goes above the equivalent of £135. Is it effectively being charged double VAT , or will border force take into account the tax already paid, shown on the customs form/receipt?

If a purchase is over £135 “You need to pay import VAT… “You will have to pay VAT to the delivery company” But what if these buy goods worth more than £135 in total have already had VAT in the price I paid (e.g. in Germany)?
