Mike Brown describes one of my favorite concepts here with his take on the @nyknicks being "Antifragile".
@nntaleb says "Wind extinguishes a candle 🕯️ but energizes fire.” 🔥
Same composition, but different response to the conditions.
Being Antifragile describes a team that doesn’t merely survive stress, chaos, volatility, or pressure... it actually gets stronger because of it.
Inversely, when organizations eliminate all discomfort, all mistakes, all conflict, and all pressure, they unintentionally create weakness. #EasternConferenceFinals #ECF

@TodayInSportsCo Citi Field is a better ballpark than Yankee Stadium.

@CoachMat11 @CTennisNation Yeah, that’s a choice not to compete. However, the Ivy League is managing just fine.
English

@CTennisNation I believe BC is completely non scholarship on the men’s side …..so not fair even posting them
English

@CTennisNation Only a few of these are really bad. In some cases, 25% in conference puts you into the NCAA tournament.

@HowieRose Incredibly tone deaf and amazing that Yogi/Gary #8 has not been retired.
English

It appears that most fans are opposed to the Mets releasing #8 (to call up Nick Morabito) after having not issued it for 25 years. There’s been a debate over whether Gary Carter’s number should be retired, but to release it this 40th anniversary season of 1986 just seems wrong.

🚨 BREAKING: Rider will suspend both its men’s and women’s tennis programs effective immediately, sources close to the situation tell CTN.
According to a message sent to Rider alumni, the University cited the challenges of the current collegiate landscape and the impact of the transfer portal on smaller programs as factors in the decision.
The decision comes despite recent success: The men’s team made program history this season by capturing its first-ever MAAC Championship and earning its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Head Coach Tim Koch’s final day with the University will be May 24

@CoachJS1994 @College10sRanks Tie NIL spending to the number of Olympic sports sponsored. A good litmus test for financial health and sustainability.

@Jeff_Menaker @College10sRanks What are your solutions to help maintain and strengthen college tennis?

Great read and couldn’t agree more…

@Energy_IP @College10sRanks Primarily? You think they’d be ok losing 4 of their 6 starters. Or 2? In 2026, they have 3 or 4 Texans I can think of. Most don’t play.
English

@College10sRanks Interesting that you mention Texas A&M in the article. This is one of the few D1 schools that has tried very hard over the last 20 years to excel with primarily American kids.
English

@CoachJS1994 @College10sRanks He is part of the culture problem. Let’s set the bar a bit higher for legend.
English

@College10sRanks Don’t blame NIL for program closures, they began before that. The 🎾 community as a whole needs a better culture. This is an example, why are we crucifying Pat? He’s a legend of our sport. Let’s work together to find solutions for the betterment of the game at all levels.

@College10sRanks International players have occupied the top of college tennis for decades, McEnroe only cares now because his daughter Victoria is going to college
English

@steverbridges @College10sRanks That’s a slightly different issue than calling for caps on international players. Internationals have nothing to do with programs being cut. The ITA did the qualitative research. Either way, PMac is not the guy to lead a nuanced discussion on this.

You certainly do not tell the whole story and a Year of Red Ball will not hurt a player develop.
Lets discuss these facts - A foreign player graduates HS and decides to go pro, plays on the ITF level for 3 years and can not make it all a sudden wants to come to America and take a spot on a team to further his or hers failing pro tennis career before they retire to get a real job. None of these older Tennis players will make it on the Professional level but sure they can beat a 17 or 18 yr old without that experience.
Moreover our taxes help pay for these schools we should have say in the amount of foreign players on a team.
Answer - If a Player thinks they want to turn pro out of HS they have 1 year to decide to go back that is it. Not 3 years of professional tennis where you can practice all day while others have to attend class and can only practice 20 hours a week.
It is easy for a full time pro to beat a kid going to classes. Grow Up
