Illinois has an official state rock! Thanks to the efforts of Jennifer Lauermann and students from Pleasantdale Middle School and Maplebrook Elementary School, Illinois designated dolostone as the state rock in 2022. bit.ly/40iq9MO @PdaleSD @Maplebrook_203 @GovPritzker
After learning that Illinois didn't have an official State Rock, a group of suburban middle school students with a passion for geology were able to change that. @BpopeTV tells us more about the students that made Dolostone the newly-official State Rock.
Today I was joined by a very special group of students to declare Dolostone as the official rock of Illinois! This group of geological prodigies and future state leaders are setting a great example for our state by lifting up their voices to enact change.
