When did New York Times Pitchbot take over Jonathan Swan's Twitter account? "Whether it's a podcast from Tucker Carlson's kitchen, or a speech at the RNC, nothing evokes stronger imagery of Joe Biden at a diner in Michigan."

neurology, because the pain from vascular conditions looks like neuropathic pain, and both sides were affected. This is why I don't think medicine should be included in STEM, because for a lot of doctors, but not all, if you do not have a classic textbook case,

Exactly this. I was circling the drain for years, between neurology, vascular, rheumatology, and neurosurgeons. It was exhausting. It wasn't until I finally self-diagnosed, that we could narrow it down. And even then, people still kept trying to send me back to

Women did enter the workforce in large numbers during WWII, but to say they kept critical infrastructure going is feminist garbage. They did jobs like factory work, assembly lines, driving trucks, and running machinery. But that’s not really heavy lifting. Children could do a lot of that. The real back-breaking work like coal mining (literally powering the war), logging oil fields and refineries, heavy construction and steel mills, and railroad maintenance was still done by men. Many men were deferred from the draft specifically to keep this critical infrastructure going.Women helped where they could, but biology and reality didn’t magically change for a few years. Pretending they carried the backbone of the war effort is revisionist nonsense and absurd.

if men stopped doing all the heavy duty, necessary, dirty jobs that make the world run...women would do them. we already know this, it happened in WWII. if women stopped doing the thankless, routine care work that makes the world go round, vulnerable people would be neglected.

@graceyldn Its honestly better to just ignore all social instincts and leave without speaking to them, I promise its kinder than wasting their time listening to their script if you can't/won't donate.

I am 75. All my grandparents were born in the 19th century and I conversed with all of them. Better than that, I shook hands with an old man (the Latin teacher at my first boarding school) in around 1958/9 whose grandfather (with whom the teacher had shaken hands as a little boy) had shaken hands with Napoleon. It was something of a craze among little boys in the 1950’s to seek out old men: ask them who had been the most famous person with whom they had ever shaken hands and (assuming there was somebody worthy) then shake hands with them to add to your collection. More fun than train spotting and more practicable than autograph hunting.

@Charlygotyou I don't know that it's a hyper fixation thing for me. It's more that once I come up with an idea of something that tastes good, it's just easier to stick with it for awhile rather than working to come up with a different idea.

@omgsidewalks Simple. Find some men that have survived a similar rock bottom. They will tell you exactly how they made it out. Do the things they did. I am a two time rock bottom survivor, I survived by doing this exactly both times. Don’t quit.

My grandmother had her cleaning lady for decades. As my grandmother aged the cleaning lady stopped cleaning & started sitting with her, as they drank coffee and ate pastries, and chatted for 3 hours. My dad was upset because her house wasn't getting cleaned. My mom said it was the best money they could've spent because it made my grandma so happy each week.

@KeruboSk Vintage Postcards! It started as a manageable hobby requiring limited space, and easily contained by a box. Now I have joined 4 postcard sending websites, purchased tons of new postcards, and even obtained some tourist cards from places I've never been.
