We have acquired community banks throughout the last decade or so. The amount of “good ole’ boys club” lending that happens in these community banks is sickening. Advisory boards more like discounted loan rate boards. And community banks give credit unions a bad rap….

@JillCastilla Credit union lender here - I disagree for (most) CUs who operate at a high level in CRE. There are some who take on enormous risk and underwrite poorly, but to blanket us with that statement is unfair.

The worst commercial real estate underwriting in our market isn’t private credit (and that’s pretty bad)…it’s credit unions.

We went skiing with two other families from my kindergartener’s school today.
When the kids finished their lesson, we all headed to the food hall.
My son stood in line with me, I paid, and we went to our table.
As we sat down, I looked to the chair to my left, where he’d always be, and his back was already half turned.
“Bye dad!”
He ran over to sit with his friends.
A lot went through my mind at that moment.
Parents with young kids:
the window closes faster than you can imagine.
