You know what? If I had a community of people pushing me to release the next update, I think I might actually be able to finish one of my SRPG Studio projects. If you'd actually be interested in that, reply and I'll set up a discord and you guys can decide what game I make.

I hate JRPGs specifically because most of them are actually pretty lacking in strategy. You just click optimal attack and win most of the time.

I have noticed that most Westerners hate JRPGs and turn-based combat. This makes sense. JRPGs are for the Japanese, so it requires you to have the intelligence of an average Japanese man to enjoy them, which we all know Westerners are not even close to having.

@artpopthenight Ces jours-cile jeu n'est pas très populaire. Je le trouve asteur être un bon jeu pour jouer en Lunatic, mais pour un jeu bon pour des débutants, les difficultés bas sont très nuls.

@YourLocalMan1 In this instance, I suppose the appeal is more "how optimal can I make the correct button presses be," but I have a personal preference for dynamic short term skirmishes, and I never felt that from ff5, whether it was clicking attack during the early game or double clicking

good amount of SMT and some FF games don't have this issue much tbh. FF5 in particular gives you a mind numbing amount of strategies for bosses with its class system alone mid and late game bosses. The DeSu games add another layer to their gameplay with racial skills

@henriqukk I think that's the problem, I just kept getting D tier Noémie suggestions. I actually have a lot of faith in the 3-6 msn party turn based battle system, out of like, 15+ games I've played, I'd say like maybe 3 games rise over a 5/10 for me and none of them really seem to take

The problem with that metroidvania tierlist is less that it ranks super metroid so low and more that it demonstrates such a shallow pov of the genre: as a sum of bosses, levels, combat, etc. Sadly this how most people view the genre nowadays.

Fire emblem has been around for almost 40 years now and yet the only game where shields are used as shields is in RD everyone else just holds them to aura farm Hell Marth’s fire emblem is literally the binding shield and all he uses it for is to open doors 😭
