A young mother of six became trapped headfirst between sea defence boulders as the tide rose around her. 32-year-old Saffron Cole-Nottage had slipped while walking her dog with her daughter in Lowestoft, becoming wedged upside down with only her legs visible. Bystanders rushed to help and desperately pulled on her legs for 10-15 minutes as she screamed and begged to be freed. They told the inquest they felt they waited an eternity for 999 crews to arrive while the water submerged her head. By the time firefighters reached her she had already drowned. Her blood alcohol level was 271mg per 100ml – more than three times the drink-drive limit. The inquest continues. So sad..
