BUT, maybe the main lesson from #SAVEICUtrial is methodological rather than clinical: complex ICU interventions are hard to deliver with high fidelity Before asking whether a strategy works, we should ask whether it was truly implemented as intended #CCR26

Now at #CCR26, but NOT yet published!! The #SAVEICUtrial (n=780) found no difference in hospital mortality with inhaled isoflurane versus IV sedation in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure More hypoxemia adjuncts and fewer delirium/coma-free days were observed with isoflurane
