The life you live off shift— how you treat people when no one’s dying— matters more than any golden hour. If you wouldn’t want to live your life on repeat, you’re overdue for an audit.

@stopvaccinating @irishrygirl Is Vit A standard treatment to attempt to prevent the blindness associated with measles and some other consequences? Yes. Does that mean the same thing as a cure? Absolutely not.

@irishrygirl Too bad western medicine has no clue how to treat an infection. Hint: Vitamins C and A cure measles.

If you’re a parent and you’re anti-vaxx, when your child comes down with the measles, when you’re sitting in the pediatric ICU listening to a dozen machines beeping, starring at your child hooked up with tubes, swollen brain and permanently blind..

I once knew a woman who was meek, deadend job, unlucky in love. Then she adopted like ten cats after her boss pushed her out a window and it honestly solved all her problems. She even bagged the richest man in Gotham City. So I'm just saying it seems like MORE CATS is the move.

@MaddieMierMD If it makes you feel better, this was a thing I was planning on googling, as a fellow Old, but then I forgot to do it, due to my aging brain.

Ummm okay. It pains me to ask this, bc I fear it makes me An Old, but I just don’t have the mental energy for the googles. Can someone explain was brat means? Like a brat summer, or Kamala is brat?

One of the more interesting focus groups of undecided voters I've seen. Highly recommend reading. Like it or not, these are the people who will decide the election, and there's value in knowing how they think - particularly if you'll be talking to voters in the next few months (please do that!) nytimes.com/interactive/20…

@alexjestrella Agree 💯 dumb ER brain logic: it's never the wrong choice, there just may be a more correct choice sometimes

@acweyand Well, they don't have my favorite, and I can't go for that. But in residency this was my favorite number to prank page my friends who were on long boring call

Today I learned about Call and Oates. Apparently you can call 719-26-OATES anytime to hear your favorite hit. You’re welcome.

@Uro_Skeptic @ShawnIzadi @acgme @OHSUsurgery Not helpful in any way is a really bold statement. I don't agree with that sentiment, but at minimum that intern gets the pgy2-5 data in the morning before rounds, meaning they get to sleep in a bit, that's helpful Also ignoring the suicide rate is outrageous and obtuse

@ShawnIzadi @acgme @OHSUsurgery Interns don’t know anything when they start, they require time and effort to grow into capable doctors Unions will improve short term QOL of residents at the expense of the quality of training If people’s feeling are that easily hurt, they should choose a different profession

@Dallas_Holladay Don't know if it's silly because it typically brings it into existence but mentioning regular pts names or sharing stories of bad pathology brings them/it in. I've been Beetlejuiced three times this past month alone. We do not speak that way in my ED if I can help it

What's the funniest ER staff superstition you have heard? Examples: Not wearing specific clothing items to work, not eating particular foods at work, and, of course, not using the Q word.

one time in med school I had a classmate actually get mad at me because I said I was interested in applying into anesthesia and they said that they were applying into anesthesia and that I couldn't just blindside them like that

@Eugene_T_Erlikh @umanamd @MicieliA_MD Whatever man, keep being immature. I proved myself to the med school, residency, and board. I don't really care what you think especially if you have zero interest in a discussion of the facts at hand ✌️

@Dr_amoytheemd Having never had a job that paid much over minimum wage before med school I was very happy with my residency paychecks. And I'm not sure I go so far as to say weekends off are a human right. Things could definitely be better but I think this is a bit over the top characterization
