Thoughts that never occur over 20 years of practicing medicine, "If only I spent more time dissecting that cadaver...."
It is a sad, uninformative rite of passage
Ash Paul@pash22
Medical schools are eliminating the use of cadavers, and that’s a shame: Technology is no substitute for learning from a real human body statnews.com/2025/03/31/med… via @nadir_alsaidi

@stopvaccinating @irishrygirl Is Vit A standard treatment to attempt to prevent the blindness associated with measles and some other consequences? Yes. Does that mean the same thing as a cure? Absolutely not.
English

@irishrygirl Too bad western medicine has no clue how to treat an infection.
Hint: Vitamins C and A cure measles.

@MaddieMierMD If it makes you feel better, this was a thing I was planning on googling, as a fellow Old, but then I forgot to do it, due to my aging brain.

One of the more interesting focus groups of undecided voters I've seen. Highly recommend reading.
Like it or not, these are the people who will decide the election, and there's value in knowing how they think - particularly if you'll be talking to voters in the next few months (please do that!)

@alexjestrella Agree 💯 dumb ER brain logic: it's never the wrong choice, there just may be a more correct choice sometimes

@Uro_Skeptic @ShawnIzadi @acgme @OHSUsurgery Not helpful in any way is a really bold statement. I don't agree with that sentiment, but at minimum that intern gets the pgy2-5 data in the morning before rounds, meaning they get to sleep in a bit, that's helpful
Also ignoring the suicide rate is outrageous and obtuse
English

@ShawnIzadi @acgme @OHSUsurgery Interns don’t know anything when they start, they require time and effort to grow into capable doctors
Unions will improve short term QOL of residents at the expense of the quality of training
If people’s feeling are that easily hurt, they should choose a different profession

@Dallas_Holladay Don't know if it's silly because it typically brings it into existence but mentioning regular pts names or sharing stories of bad pathology brings them/it in. I've been Beetlejuiced three times this past month alone.
We do not speak that way in my ED if I can help it
English

@RealMed3 @Financial_MD Pretty sure we only got a pin-on name tag. Definitely had to buy the doctor bag and stethoscope myself
English

@Eugene_T_Erlikh @umanamd @MicieliA_MD Whatever man, keep being immature. I proved myself to the med school, residency, and board. I don't really care what you think especially if you have zero interest in a discussion of the facts at hand ✌️

I might have missed this paper but can someone please point me to the evidence where tPA saves lives?

Today, I rode in Grady's Mobile Stroke Unit ambulance where we can get a brain ct scan and give life saving medications (tPA) to stroke patients all before arriving to the hospital! This is cutting-edge stroke care 🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠

@MicieliA_MD @MikePallaci @umanamd Where they discuss actual studies. FOAMed isn't perfect, but it's also not bullshit. This attitude about it though...
English

@shailinthomas Oh I just whisper dictated for all of intern year until my senior noticed and started calling me Delilah
English

@Dr_amoytheemd Having never had a job that paid much over minimum wage before med school I was very happy with my residency paychecks. And I'm not sure I go so far as to say weekends off are a human right. Things could definitely be better but I think this is a bit over the top characterization
