Our words are the most powerful things we have. Whether to hurt or to lift up. They are what separate us from every other thing on this planet. Words are powerful and they bring divinity to mortality. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will create the future."
Justin Sherin@wychstreet

Judi Dench was on Graham Norton last night to push her new book about her life and work with Shakespeare. After making the point we quote Shakespeare daily without knowing it, this happened:

Following a very difficult meeting with my accountant, I just found out how much it is going to cost me in terms of an "exit tax" to leave Quebec and Canada. No human being in a free society should have their hard-earned money stolen in this manner. I'm genuinely numb. I'm speechless.

@luxemiaa If you’re dating 24 women at the same time are you even treating them as people? Or are they like flesh golem LLMs? I can’t imagine dating anyone without wanting to see their soul. Souls are infinitely complex. I want to discover someone.

One of my exes who I’ve remained just friends with, meant to send a snap to 24+ girls separately. But he accidentally sent it to us together in one group chat. He literally added his entire roster into a group chat together. We renamed it ‘pat’s roster’ and I still can’t stop laughing tbh. He just got dumped 24 times in a row

@NewRangeWar @CrazyTrain2021 @ABC Everything's a conspiracy when you're stupid. This is related to the release of Sulfur Dioxide by international shipping. So yes. We were and are warming the planet. The release of Sulfur Dioxide had a countering effect. We have since lowered the amount of SO2 that is released.

I don’t really come up with tweets. They punch through my psyche like asteroids through the atmosphere. I was eating a mandarin when “you have to make more money than her father if you ever want her to see you as a man” revealed itself. Is that true? Who knows. Your problem now

@bethkoob @ChristiansSTDT No doubt. Amd you're entirely right. I was mostly just being cheeky. But saying humans came from monkeys is just roughly inaccurate. We share a common ancestor would be the best way to phrase it.

@MTe005 @ChristiansSTDT Well, yeah, re-reading I may have misinterpreted, but one of the nonsensical statements you see often repeated is ... oh, if humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys! I sort of read the comment that way.

@kimz_kk @tufdave It's singular so it's Tuesday's 's indicates singular s' indicates plural The only exception are words that end with s, especially names, such as Charles, which can accept both s's and s' when referring to them as singular, and pronouns which do not get an apostrophe at all.

Maybe. But the input I gave was this: "One game I play will eventually get really laggy. The scenes render slowly, the clicks register in a delay. I'll close the game, but the effect persists through all my Windows apps. Chrome will continue to be laggy for a while. Eventually it gets better but it usually takes 5-10 minutes for the lag to go away." That's a terrible search description. There is no way Google would find the solution to this. But here's the crazy thing: If you put that description into a high-performing AI, it could probably tell you the game I was playing. That is insane.

AI is starting to scare me. I just described in detail a bug from a game I'm playing and Claude suggested that this bug was indicative of a particular render engine (it was correct) and gave me a quick workaround for the bug

You are well-prepared to apply critical thinking rather than critical theory. Here is my hypothesis (summary by @grok): The social-liberal policy architecture (bilingualism framework + 1971 multiculturalism + Charter s.27) provided the container. The 1970s–1990s academic and pedagogical infusion of critical theory/critical pedagogy supplied the transformative content that reframed the historical “mosaic” (self-reliant European nations confederating a sovereign dominion under Crown institutions and treaties) into a post-national arrangement whose legitimacy rests on ongoing equity management and deconstruction of founding narratives. The “idea” that holds the polity together changed because the intellectual tools for interpreting and teaching that idea had shifted.

The US is a melting pot and Canada is a mosaic. When I was studying Canadian History, in university, this is exactly how our professors and history books described it. It always made sense to me, having lived and worked in the USA and other countries. #cdnpoli #onpoli #qcpoli @MarkJCarney
Scott Robertson@sarobertson_

Carney: Canada is a mosaic, not a melting pot. And this is the distinction that matters. Because a mosaic doesn't dissolve or blend its pieces. Each is stitched to each and all the pieces hold all. And the beauty is in the arrangement, not in the blending.
