Hello Senator Thune, At 3 AM on Friday, March 27th, in a near-empty chamber, you passed a bill by voice vote that excludes all funding for ICE and CBP. Let me repeat that: voice vote. No roll call. No record of who was there. No accountability. Just you, Barrasso, and a handful of senators shuffling paper in the dead of night while America slept. You could have demanded a recorded vote. You chose not to. You could have held the line for five more days until the House returned. You chose not to. You could have used the same procedural tools Democrats have used against you for 40 days. You chose not to. Instead, you gave Chuck Schumer exactly what he asked for, DHS funding minus immigration enforcement, and called it a win. Then you walked to the cameras and blamed the Democrats. Let's be precise about what you did: 1. You caved to a demand Democrats made on Day 1 of this shutdown. Forty-one days of supposed hardball negotiation, and you settled for their opening offer. 2. You handed them a template. The next time Democrats want to defund any agency — ICE, CBP, or anything else — they now know: just shut down DHS and wait. John Thune will fold at 3 AM. 3. You punted to reconciliation. "Good possibility," you said. Not "we will." Not "guaranteed." Just maybe. Meanwhile, ICE operates on fumes from last year's bill with no certainty of future funding. The precedent you set: You have argued for months that the filibuster is sacrosanct. That the 60-vote threshold protects minority rights. That we cannot bend Senate rules for policy wins. But at 3 AM on Friday, you bent every norm that actually mattered: • Voice vote to avoid accountability • Empty chamber to avoid debate • Midnight deal to avoid scrutiny • Immediate recess to avoid questions You'll bend the rules to avoid a fight. You just won't bend them to win one. What you've actually accomplished: Democrats demanded ICE restrictions. They got ICE defunded. Not reformed. Not restrained. Defunded. And you're out here tweeting about how Democrats are the "Defund the Police" party while you just voted to defund border enforcement at 3 in the morning. The question you should answer: Why did this deal have to happen at 3 AM? Why couldn't it happen at 3 PM, with cameras rolling and every senator on record? You know why. Because you didn't want your voters to see what surrender looks like. Here's my message: We saw it anyway. Stop hiding behind "Democrat obstruction." You're the Majority Leader. You set the schedule. You control the floor. You chose this outcome. Own it.

@naomirwolf I am noticing a number of Jewish people recently weighing in on Christian doctrine. These seems to be a concerted effort to usurp our own faith and to impose a Jewish interpretation. Do Jews have authority over Christians?

Respectfully this is what Paul, a Hellenized Jew speaking mostly to Roman Empire pagans and seeking to build a church with them, said. What Jesus said about this issue of the law (the Old Testament) is very different. I'd go with Jesus.

In his regrettable and Biblically illiterate interview 3 nights ago with Carrie Prejean Boller, Jew and Israel critic, Carlson attributes to Ted Cruz the blessing on Israel that appears multiple times in the Bible, always actually via God in the Highest. In the quote below this blessing of God’s over the children of Israel is in Numbers 24 (which incredibly enough I happened to read live last night, two days after the egregious misstatement of Carlson’s, in my Geneva Bible chronological reading), and it is produced via ‘the spirit of God’ out of the mouth of Balaam, who isn’t even a member of the tribe of Israel; he is a pagan soothsayer: ‘The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor,
    the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly, 4  the prophecy of one who hears the words of God,
    who sees a vision from the Almighty,[a]
    who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened: 5  “How beautiful are your tents, Jacob,
    your dwelling places, Israel! 6  “Like valleys they spread out,
    like gardens beside a river,
like aloes planted by the Lord,
    like cedars beside the waters. 7  Water will flow from their buckets;
    their seed will have abundant water. “Their king will be greater than Agag;

    and those who curse you be cursed!”’ (NIV, a Christian version of the Bible). So, yeah - this blessing is not the invention of Ted Cruz or AIPAC. It is very, very spiritually dangerous, per many examples in the Old Testament - part of the Christian Bible as well - to mock or distort the Word of God. I truly hope for his own sake @tuckercarlson picks up a Bible and reads some of it at least, and corrects publicly his appallingly ignorant or nefarious distortion of God’s own words about this blessing, repeated several times, in Christian/Jewish sacred scripture.

In the face of SO much nonsense about Jews - I just had the misfortune of listening to the @TuckerCarlson / Carrie Prejean Boller interview- I am sticking to my goal of being publicly Jewier than ever, and of carrying on with reading what Jews (and well informed Christians) actually believe and the text from which they and we derive: the Old Testament. Join me for 1560 Geneva Bible/Chabad Hebrew Bible tonight 6 ET: Balaam is asked to curse Israel, but famously blesses them. This is one of the points Mr Carlson sadly garbled on his show. (Ms Prejean described a shocking new theology that is being presented to modern Christians - that they ‘supplant’ or ‘replace’ Israel. That’s not what Jesus or St Paul said. Very suspect of origin — Qatar? - as this notion severs the ancient bonds between Jews and Christians). Intellectually stupid and morally dangerous to attack Jews by twisting history to falsely ascribe a text that both our religions say was bestowed by God, to Jews. After the ‘bless those who bless them’ reference, Mr Carlson said something like, ‘They think they’re superior.’ Nope. Listen to what God actually said. See you soon.
