Clouded yellow and 3x willow emerald damselflies at orchard pools midday. Went looking for the emeralds and great to see 3 in a large willow. Clouded yellow was a surprise, but flying amongst prickly sow thistles which is one of its favourite plants to visit in my experience

@MattPlenty Yes matt, the gap in the hedge by the passing spot is no longer a way of entry. I had to climb through in the ditch 10 yards to the side of it. 6pm the 3 times i visited there were several on view throughout the time i was there. Luckily the tree was sheltered in a SW wind

White-Letter hairstreak yesterday at Elberton. Several came down in the long grass, not sure why, little in the way of flowers. Saw another tumble down but it was a wasp despatching a white-letter, just after the wasp flew up onto a branch before a wing floated down. 😬.

@Mikepastycarr @savebutterflies The most Holly Blues this year I have ever seen in Gloucestershire. Also lots in west Wales last week. Seem to be having a bumper year. Great numbers of Peacock butterflies in last couple of weeks too.
