Thanks @AmericanAir! Your PSP ground crew and flight #4888 attendants were stellar! Saved us from the idiots at @SouthwestAir. Now we just need to make it home!

So seriously @SouthwestAir, how the hell is this supposed to work? Did you invent a time machine that lets me connect to a flight the day before I left??? Worst airline.

@MyTechMusings @Arm I can see how a jury would be confused! I don't know exactly what details of "architectures" @Arm provides in the ALA, but anything they shared with Nuvia goes above & beyond TLA, and (IMO) informs any new design. Especially if it's highly proprietary, like a branch predictor.

I know we use loosely, but it is not "implementation" of ISA per say either? As in not using ISA to build the core. It is just making sure your core can run ISA commands. If you have #TSA then, you can say @Arm owns the cores, because it is giving the full thing, no?
Mike Demler@MikeDemler

@MyTechMusings @Qualcomm @USC @Arm I should have said @arm implementation of the ISA... "Architecture License Agreements (“ALAs”), which allow for the design of custom processor cores that are based on particular architectures provided by Arm

There is nothing to reveal, the Arm Architecture Reference Manual is openly available for anybody to download. Engineers don't "use" the spec to build the core. The spec is not how to build the core. They have to test the cores with ISA to check compatibility. Even if you take @Arm 's claim that any Architecture Compliant Cores are $Arm technology, that wouldn't be true till the cores are certified by Arm to be compliant. Nuvia & @Qualcomm are arguing that When Nuvia transferred it's tech to Sqcom, cores were not certified. So by Arm's own definition, they are not Arm technology.

.@Qualcomm expert witness, a @USC professor is explaining what is #microarchitecture and how $qcom has to build all of this, and how @Arm is no where is not involved in all of that in simple terms so that Jury understands. All of this to prove that micro architecture is not a derivative.... #qcomarm

@MyTechMusings @Qualcomm @USC @Arm But once the details of that ISA have been revealed via the ALA, which a licensed core does not, claiming that the engineers to which it was revealed weren't using it is absolutely absurd.

@MyTechMusings @Qualcomm @USC @Arm That argument sounds hilarious to me, not to mention audaciously disingenuous, but a non-tech jury may not get it. Nuvia had an ALA... but somehow created an Arm v.8-compatible uArch that was independent of it? Huh?

The question in the case is whether the microarchitecture Nuvia created is a derivative of @Arm Technology or independent of it. Of course microarchitecture has to run $Arm ISA. @Qualcomm claims its own #ALA covers the products it commercialized with Nuvia technology & Nuvia ALA is not needed. Obviously Arm disagrees, and that's why we are here .
