@GlobalBoxOffice @Bmk1697 I certainly won’t come on here and attack, I appreciate what this account does and respect your predictions. That said… with this news I just can’t see it opening as low as 65m. The other theaters will see the AMC numbers as we get close. 80 should be the floor. Well see.

Did Kubrick compromise his artistic vision when he shot The Shining in 1.37 for theatrical 1.85, but protected for 1.66 and 4:3? How about Cameron shooting S35 for T2 in 2.35 and 4:3? Sam Raimi finishing Spider-Man in 1.66 for a 1.85 theatrical release and 4:3 DVD?
Skylinex13@Skylinex13

urely doing this kinda demonstrates a reaaaaally compromised artistic vision like if you can just fuck around this much with aspect ratio, you clearly don't particularly care about shot composition

DISCLOSURE DAY is Steven Spielberg's 2nd consecutive film to top-bill a woman, after THE FABELMANS. Martin Scorsese & Christopher Nolan could never.

Might be an unpopular take, but I think multiple formats are stupid. Be an artist and pick an aspect ratio that suits the film and be done with it. For me, The Odyssey feels like it should be shot WIDE like the epics of old and even recent times. When you're strictly shooting in 2.39: 1 (or any ratio) you frame specifically for that format. When you're shooting for 5 different sizes, now you have to factor that in for EVERY shot. How will this look in IMAX or 1.85:1. How outside the box or specific can you get with your camera work when everything has to work for multiple formats? It's similar to the idea of shooting a film with a bunch of cameras and blender editing it. How about have ONE singular vision. In this case, for THE SHOT when it comes to framing. Still a big Chris Nolan fan but the changes of aspect ratio watching Dunkirk was distracting and seeing there's FIVE different ones for the Odyssey, it's too much. Just make 1 definitive version of your film.

Christoper Nolan taking a page out of Ryan Coogler marketing. “The Odyssey” website lets users view scenes in different aspect ratios to understand inside baseball of the filmmaking process.

@notsotroubled Plenty of movies every year do the date/time ticket drop. This isn’t on The Odyssey it’s on the theaters for not having their sites prepared.

@flodyssey Can take or leave the poster itself but what I I like about it is the presence of the laestrygonians. They feel much bigger here than in the trailer. Hope it feels this way in the movie

OBSESSION only reminds me that GONE GIRL was a way better movie that villainized the female. And guess what? The latter was made by a very lib Gen Xer and written by a woman. It was just way better as a movie in every respect.

@firstshowing I wouldn’t call The Odyssey and What Happens at Night BIG IP. Also, Spielberg just did west side story so it’s not like he’s averse lol but I appreciate the sentiment and agree.

Well, well - yet another director taking on another big IP project. Nolan, Villeneuve, Scorsese - everyone doing IP right now. I think we're really lucky that Spielberg is about to drop a giant new original movie on us soon.

Zack Snyder will be writing and directing the remake of John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. StudioCanal is teaming with The Picture Company on the brand new reimagining. Kurt Russell starred as Snake Plissken in the 1981 original.

A White guy who gets famous writing a song about getting fucked over by the government only to then get fucked over by his wife, is a perfect microcosm of what it’s like to be a White man in America in 2026…

@koreanoli Gone Girl and Get Out don’t fit the theme of movies about women being used/made to feel like the villain when they’re not. Those women absolutely are the villains lol

Nolan’s The Odyssey lacks beauty, artistic thinking, quality of writing, wonder over source material, grandeur, faithfulness, magic, and character and this is all obvious before the film even comes out. Representation and accuracy are issues, but not the major ones.
spiked@spikedonline

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Odyssey’ shows how poisonous identity politics has been for the film industry. The left demands ‘representation’, the right demands ‘historical accuracy’. Good art doesn’t need to do either, says Maren Thom buff.ly/PwSdhJg

@iamrobtv Maybe we’re looking for different things out of these films but the cartoony Gotham of Begins just doesn’t compare to watching the Joker and Batman go at it, street level, on a street I feel like I’ve been down before. And in the full IMAX ratio too. TDK is the clear winner.

Begins had an aura to it as a Batman film that The Dark Knight and Rises just didn’t. Begins felt like the only film in the trilogy where Nolan actually wanted to make a Batman movie
