Qué aterrador es darte cuenta que la Tierra y la Luna no son más que dos esferas gigantes flotando en medio de la nada. No existe suelo firme, ni arriba ni abajo. Solo un silencioso y oscuro vacío que se extiende en todas direcciones. 💀

@robertgraham the problem in US is - most things managed by govt runs extremely expensive, corrupt and incompetent. In China govt is a lot more competent and was able to build incredible amount of trains and infrastructure

Socialists shrug their shoulders at such costs. But capitalists do math. They estimate once completed there will be 30 million rides per year between SF and LA. But paying interest on a $126 billion loan is still more expensive than simply providing free airplane rides for those riders. That's why socialist countries are poor, they spend huge amounts of capital on political-but-wasteful projects so there's no capital left to spend on useful stuff, like factories. The California high-speed rail isn't economically viable.
KTLA@KTLA

In a 60 Minutes report, officials said they now believe the rail line linking L.A. and San Francisco could ultimately cost about $126 billion, more than triple the original price tag approved by voters. ktla.com/news/californi…

Token usage is part of perf evaluations at Meta. This is just smart people (Meta only hires smart folks) hitting targets they assume leadership wants them to hit so they get that exceeds expectations (or above) rating + avoid below expectations (Perhaps this is Meta’s goal btw)
Jyoti Mann@jyoti_mann1

Exclusive: Meta employees are “tokenmaxxing” and competing on an internal leaderboard called “Claudeonomics” for status as a token legend. Over a recent 30-day period, total usage on the dashboard topped 60 trillion tokens.

@hamids rocket lab had failures on electron initially. also electron is much smaller rocket, uses electric fuel pump that simplified their rocket engines. Neutron is a lot more complex with new engine also making all those parts from composites is hard, none of it flight tested…

With construction costs soaring and the timeline years behind schedule, California has focused on completing a more limited route than originally intended – a route that few were clamoring for, and fewer are likely to ride. cbsn.ws/3Okzqnu

it’s funny how much California’s Mediterranean climate mogs the actual Mediterranean. It’s sunnier, drier, cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Americans were given the garden of eden and look what we did with it

🚨JUST IN: the Artemis II astronauts are complaining about a horrible smell coming from their toilet.. again.. NASA built that toilet for $30 million.. let that sink in.. thirty million dollars.. for a toilet.. that smells.. the Artemis program has cost $93 billion total.. the rocket alone was $23 billion.. and the part responsible for dealing with human waste cost $30 million.. broke last week.. got fixed by ground teams.. and is now breaking again while the crew is flying around the moon.. every dollar of that $93 billion came from your taxes.. congress approved it.. year after year.. with full knowledge of the cost.. the same people who told you there's no money for healthcare.. no money for housing.. no money for anything.. found $93 billion for a rocket.. and $30 million for a toilet that smells.

A former PM at Meta recently posted: "If you're still using an IDE, you'll be laid off next" Aggressive? A bit, yeah. It is, however, more directionally correct than rage bait. Half our engineers still use IDEs (but with Claude Code running inside). The others don't use them at all. Just agents and orchestration. IDEs aren't dead yet, but they're about to be.

I wonder if we see a flood of retirements at @SpaceX as employees' shares suddenly become worth so much that they no longer need to work. Wouldn't surprise me if this is something they worry about. The valuation has ballooned Extreme fast.

🚨 San Diego, wake up — this is robbery. $237.69 for just 456 kWh. That’s 52 cents per kilowatt hour. SDG&E’s delivery charges are already insane, but your “clean” electricity is coming from San Diego Community Power — the exact Community Choice scam Mayor @ToddGloria personally launched in 2021, bragging it would deliver cheaper, 100% renewable power. How’s that working out? Working families are getting crushed with sky-high bills while Gloria virtue-signals about the climate. This is Green New Deal reality: unaffordable energy, empty promises, and zero accountability.
