@SecScottBessent @USTreasury How dare a private company in the US freely negotiate with our government. They shouldn’t be allowed to dictate their own terms. That’s unacceptable. So performative 🤦‍♂️

No private company will ever dictate the terms of our national security. Anthropic’s attempts to push use clauses into their contracts with the United States government are unacceptable, and their products will no longer be utilized by the @USTreasury or any other government agency.

I woke up this morning to more tweets about AI vs lawyers, and I just don't get it. Yes, AI will replace juniors and lower-tier lawyers. But those jobs were never that secure in the age of ever-better forms and legal self-help platforms. We are as busy as ever at @DayOneLaw, and I don't think AI is changing that anytime soon. It's already making legal work faster and cheaper. So lawyers can do more for less. This efficiency effect isn't new and has slowly been occurring throughout my career. It's been sped up by legal literacy increasing and now by AI. This means the good lawyers will end up handling more clients and spend less time on each. But I don't think that means we're all out of jobs. The lawyers who (i) can leverage AI to drive their clients' bills down, and (ii) have the skills that AI can't replace (i.e., personal judgment, designing regulatory strategies, managing ambiguity, etc.) will win.

NEW: Two skiers save the life of a man who was suffocating under snow after getting stuck at Palisades Tahoe resort in California. The skiers were seen stopping in the powder before noticing a ski sticking out of the snow. “For whatever reason we stopped and happen to just see tips of the skis in the whiteout and luckily we did,” said Carson Schmidt. “Just want it to be a reminder to ski safe and ski with a buddy. For my small team folk out there: Policies & procedures - do them. Formalize them and put them in writing. Doesn't have to be a 50 page manual. Even a 1 page doc on how client intake works or how invoices go out can be helpful. Small teams think they don’t need this. They do. Written processes cut noise, reduce decision fatigue, and free you up to focus on what actually matters.

Founders, you should always review your agreements in detail; yes, even if your lawyer reviews them. My clients are lucky that I point out their respective obligations and limitations, but many don't. Review your agreements before signing
