We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came.

It is all upto the peoples of #Tigray to determine their future. By no means should it ever be by a genocidal government based at 4Kilo, lest the immense sacrifices will be in vain. It will be at #Tegaru’s peril if they fail to realize this state of situations and succumb to the machinations of @AbiyAhmedAli and those compradors who betrayed their mother land and opted to advance the enemy’s agenda.

Just discovered the Woyane Rebellion of 1943 in Tigray — such an incredible story! Despite its defeat, it became a powerful symbol of local resistance and grassroots self-rule. Even today, people still talk about it. #Tigray #History

@martinplaut Emperor Haile Selassie adopted the name Ethiopia officially in 1930–1931 when he restructured the government and modernized the country.

Abyssinia was formally recognized internationally as Ethiopia in 1945, when the country joined the newly founded United Nations under that name. It had earlier been admitted to the League of Nations in 1923 as Abyssinia, and the name Ethiopia was adopted domestically in 1931

Insularity, arrogance, and playing victim are the most defining characteristics of the militarist TPLF and its cohorts. The very same ethnocratic clique that murdered millions of Ethiopians in its brutal 27 years of misrule, that conducted systematic human rights violations bordering ethnic cleansing in Somali Region, and that ransacked and raped Amhara civilians 5 years ago, often talk about “Tigray genocide”, without any shame or regret. The day justice is finally served, the worst offenders of human rights will be those who, today, are pointing fingers at others.

@DanielsonKassa1 Rather they were and still are profiled and marginalized for who they are. If in fact leaders were measured with what they did for thier country MELES was the greatest leader to ever walk on the soils of Africa. This is not exaggeration, this is a fact a word leaders agreed on.

@ethiopiansone These are protests staged by TPLF under the guise of “Amhara”. Expect more drama like this to delegitimize upcoming elections in Ethiopia.

"We Will Not Enthrone Our Killers with Ballots!" Massive Public Defiance Across the Amhara Region Exposes UAE’s Complicity in War Crimes! In a historic and massive display of civil disobedience, residents across various parts of the Amhara region took to the streets today, April 2, 2026, to voice their fierce opposition to the regime’s planned elections. Under the resolute slogan "We will not enthrone our killers with ballot cards," the movement sent a clear message to the world: the relationship between the people and the current regime has reached a definitive end. This uprising serves as a direct rejection of any attempt to use an election to legitimize the ongoing genocide, drone strikes, and heavy artillery shelling directed at the Amhara people. The slogans displayed during the demonstrations reflected the profound suffering and the clear priorities of the populace. Protesters carried large banners declaring: "To ask a people facing an existential threat from an all-out genocidal war to 'vote' is to mock and ridicule their agony." Further reinforcing their stance, protesters rejected the regime’s political maneuvers with slogans such as "Election is a luxury for a people suffering daily" and "War in one hand, a ballot card in the other—this is a game, not an election." In a poignant display of grief and defiance, demonstrators carried images of innocent civilians killed by regime forces, affirming their unwavering stance: "You can kill us, but you will never rule us as you once did." A significant and distinct feature of today's protests was the explicit condemnation of foreign interference and support for the regime. Banners and placards reading "UAE, take your hand off Ethiopia!" were prominently displayed. Protesters exposed the United Arab Emirates’ direct involvement in fueling the war in the Amhara region, accusing the UAE of enabling genocide through military and financial support. Slogans such as "UAE: Stop Fueling War in Amhara!" and "UAE: Stop Enabling Genocide!" demonstrated the people's high level of political consciousness, recognizing that their struggle for survival is not only against domestic tyranny but also against the foreign powers providing the resources for their oppression. Protesters also utilized Arabic-language slogans to demand that the UAE cease its participation in the genocidal campaign. Categorizing the ballot card as a "shackle of slavery," the people have completely distanced themselves from voter registration and all election-related activities, instead publicly declaring their total support for the Fano freedom fighters. The Amhara people have loudly announced to the international community that they will no longer open their doors to deceptive political tactics. Their message is clear: the only path forward is radical change and the absolute protection of their right to exist.
