@ankoromochuu @CajunB76312 Being Catholic, the story of the Faith there is inspirational. And that doesn’t even get into all the other great stuff from the people I’ve met from there to kaiju films.

I thought it was pretty subversive in that it basically showed the guys being gaslit into being inferior versions of themselves. When they didn’t comply, they were killed. This is portrayed as bad and a collective awakening of society was needed to show that it was bad.

Before James Gunn’s horrifically awful "Superman," the worst theatrical experience I ever had was M. Night Shyamalan’s 2019 disaster, “Glass.” I didn’t know the “GL” in the title was silent. They sold it as the ultimate male superhero showdown: Bruce Willis’ Unbreakable hero, Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Glass, and James McAvoy’s terrifying Horde — all in one movie. What they didn’t tell you? They weren’t there to celebrate their male characters. They were there to kill them. Most of the film takes place in a psychiatric hospital where a smug FEMALE psychiatrist works to convince all three that their powers are just delusions. She’s actually part of a secret organization dedicated to hunting down and eliminating people with real superhuman abilities. In the end: Mr. Glass is murdered by The Horde. The Horde is gunned down by her security team. And David Dunn, the unbreakable hero, is drowned in a shallow puddle by her agents. “Glass” was one of the earliest big-screen flexes of the anti-male, anti-superhero agenda. They spent years building these male characters… just to gleefully execute them on screen. If I ever had respect for M. Night Shyamalan, I lost it that day. And anything he makes today gets an immediate PASS - because I know this asshole hates his male characters.

It’s really (kidding, of course) surprising no one in wb/dc wants to adapt the spectre for all their love of darker takes

@DT2ComicsChat Exactly. We couldn’t hate it. We’d never seen anything like that before. It was shock. Then it was curiosity and intrigue about what was coming next. Again, because we’d never seen that before. Now? Totally different environment.

I’ve met too many Ivy leaguers to think that graduating from there is some sort of hallmark of intelligence.

Turbo 2026 Back From The Spaghetto
People get really mad when you point out how bad modern day Marvel is. Especially the X-Men comics. “You don’t even know the X-men” Yeah man that’s gotta be it. It’s not that a bunch editors and writers that didn’t like the X-men in the 1st place fundamentally changed them

The media effort to portray Stephen A Smith as some sort of political intellectual rather than a sports commentator is actually kind of impressive.
