@ParkinginSheff Moves to ban/reform pavement parking would need to be done on a hyper-local basis, taking into account the needs of the residents and visitors. A blunt instrument is not the solution.
@ParkinginSheff It's not that straightforward, unfortunately. Pavement parking is a problem on my street. But there's also too few marked bays. With careful consideration you can park so that there's space to let a wheelchair through on the pavement and vehicles passed, but it's not easy.
@vicdevine@HJB3996@mikeyjavery@anon_opin There's a false equivalence between bringing kids to a pub and changing a poonami where there's food and drink being served. That'd be like saying men aren't allowed in pubs because I once saw one do a shit on a table.
Pubs are not creches. Stop bringing your toddlers. Amazing as it may seem to parents, I don't want to sit through a cacophony of noise and watch shitty nappies being changed while I'm having a pint.
Helium should not be sold for balloons. It's insane. It's literally a finite resource which is irreplaceable for lifesaving medical equpt - but sure - your 1yo snotface NEEDS a helium filled Peppa Pig for their birthday which they'll never remember.
@orofinger@LizWebsterSBF@davecoveney Sure, in time. But that's not the argument. Offering people a truth they don't want to hear is a sure way to lose. It doesn't matter how truthful your truth is if you're stuck forever on the opposition bench.
@PW507@LizWebsterSBF@davecoveney But they will guide the UK closer to the EU because the economic reality is that the nirvana envisaged by hard brexiteers is no more than fantasy and is a ship that sailed when labour won the election in 1945.
The single market is a necessity for UK prosperity
EU bridles at Keir Starmer’s plan to seek ‘much better’ Brexit deal
“Unless Starmer is prepared to take a quantum leap and change Labour’s position on membership of the customs union then any renegotiation will really be not much more than a rebranding exercise,” one EU source said.
“You could call it the Dover deal, but it will still work in the same way.”
“Starmer does not want to rejoin the EU or the single market. It is not a big change in the UK approach, so why should the Europeans rethink everything?” said a diplomat from a national government generally sympathetic to closer trade ties.
“In terms of friction the TCA works better for the EU and countries with trade ties to the UK than it does for the Brits. What is in it for us? What do we get?”
@orofinger@LizWebsterSBF@davecoveney If Labour ran on a position of rejoining, they'd lose the election. It's not going to happen in the short-medium term. That's why not.
@LizWebsterSBF@davecoveney Sorry, but I think that's a blinkered position. You'd lose everyone who voted Brexit, as well as some who didn't because they won't want to reopen the can of worms.
I say this as a Remainer.
@davecoveney There’s far more opportunities in offering people the truth, that prosperity and a better future lie with agreeing to rejoin the EU. Continuing with Brexit only ensures more decline.
@Kev_OC66@kevharrison_@ProfessorAaronP@fesshole Not necessarily, and unless your example was tested in court it doesn't prove anything. OP's employer could assert that the contract was signed in bad faith as they knew it was a mistake.
@kevharrison_@ProfessorAaronP@fesshole Nope, written contract overrides verbal. My head Chef did the same with my 1st job. Told me it was 50 hours expected with 20 guaranteed but wrote in 50 on both hours of work expected & hours guaranteed by mistake. Nothing the Hotel could do about it when they realised.
Verbally offered £24k for a new admin job. Someone in HR transposed the digits so all my employment paperwork and contract state I'm paid £42k. It's been 9 months receiving this higher amount per month and I'm not saying a WORD
@willp6666@anon_opin Either you've never been to Nandos, therefore you have no idea whether it's good or bad, therefore your opinion on its quality is invalid.
Or you have been to Nandos, and so by your own rule, your opinion is invalid.
Therefore, we need discuss this no further. Good day.
If Londoners with polluting vehicles don't want to pay the ULEZ charge, why not let them use a hose to pipe the exhaust fumes into their vehicle. They can then release the fumes when they get back out of the zone.
@bookiesnacksize This is from a sketch show here in the UK called That Mitchell and Webb Look. The Nazi guy stops naziing for a moment to reflect.
Not sure how famous this gif is in the US?
@EmmaPomfret Hi, hope you don't mind the follow. We met on the train - my profile's anon because of work. I googled Halo as promised and found you. Lovely to meet you, and hope your travels go ok.
@ChrisIlett@anon_opin Disagree on the graphic for intermediate. If you'd prefer to use graphic over parametric, you probably aren't doing it right.
Even lots of pro audio, you can't do separate sides differently with a built in stereo bus. You have to route it into two monos.
