@Pastor_Jump

Jade refers to me as husband, while Justus, Azlee, and Graham call me daddy. The members at @fpjoplin address me as pastor. But above all, God calls me redeemed

@LostMyHats Honestly, I’m not entirely sure. Our goal is simply to proclaim God’s Word, share the gospel of hope and salvation, and encourage people to put Jesus first in their lives. I’d invite them to come back on any Sunday, attend a service, and hear more about Jesus.

@MikeCosper @PastorMark Mike, I’m glad you don’t support @jamestalarico. But what you fail to see is that speaking positively about his demeanor is essentially complimenting the fake wool of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The man is a heretic, & that is what our analysis should focus on—nothing more.

What do you need me to say, @pastormark? That I think his theology is flawed? Yeah… I do think that. He’s an American politician from the mainline tradition — of course I think his theology is flawed. It's not like we haven't seen people like him before. It's not like there aren't dozens of mainline folks in the halls of Congress currently. I'll dive into debate on this theology any time, and you'll find that you and I probably agree more than we don't. I'm still evangelical. I'm still reformed. I actually think I'm a little more reformed than you these days. But the point of the conversation, like the point of MUCH conversation of non-MAGA evangelicals around the Talarico phenomenon, is that he is resonating with people who appreciate his manner, his style, his attempt to embody a certain character that is more recognizably Christian than the harsh, brazen, and at times vulgar manner that has characterized MAGA. That doesn’t excuse policy positions I find reprehensible. Nor did I say it did. That doesn’t amount to an endorsement either. I would never vote for a politician with his policy positions. It’s called “Political analysis” and it’s about “why is this working for some people?” Now… don’t change the subject here, Mark — when do we get to talk? I'm happy to add Talarico to the agenda.

@MikeCosper There were no selective edits. The podcast is up for anyone to listen for themself. If we missed the part where you called @jamestalarico a heretic and apostate, please post the sound bite.

@KSPrior Many in the faith became confused and overly shaped by culture, but we are returning to truth and, by God’s grace, will once again shape culture instead of being shaped by it. This is a great example of that return to truth as defined by Scripture.

@TomBuck This has always struck me as odd. It seems to send the message that gathering together for worship is optional, inessential, or unimportant.

If your church is so much of a “production” that you feel the need to cancel worship services during Christmas week to give everyone a break, you’ve lost the ultimate purpose of the gathering! “We are the church. Worship is what we do. We gather together to meet with God, to hear His Word, to partake of His sacraments, to offer Him prayers and praise, to give our offerings, to confess our sins, to hear once again His assurance of pardoning grace, to dwell with Him. And we do this together every week. It becomes the very pattern of our lives. And though routine, it is the most important and glorious aspect of our lives.” - Kevin DeYoung

Every year, Christmas Eve proves to be one of my favorite services. It’s a powerful reminder that Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12).

@BethMooreLPM @howertonjosh @pastordmack Be careful not to take the exception and make it the rule. God’s creation mandate is “to be fruitful & multiply” within the covenant of marriage. While some are called to singleness, Scripture shows that for most young men and women, marriage & parenthood are God-honoring desires

Josh, you have been so dear to me. I legitimately love you. I don’t even like writing this reply but I’m flummoxed. Numbers 4 and 5. What are we to make of the apostle Paul whose life was the furthest thing from inconsequential and unfulfilled? Or of his recommendation of singleness to those who could control their passions? And, Josh, cute girls? Is that our qualification for being a good pick to marry?

If you're a young man and want your life to be consequential and fulfilled... 1) Bend your knee to Jesus 2) Go to church 3) Read your Bible & pray everyday, and live out of it 4) Find a cute girl who loves Jesus and get married young 5) Have at least 1 more kid than you think you can afford 6) Work hard to build something with your life instead of complaining It is not the critic who counts. Be the man in the arena for the glory of God.

Abortion is the modern-day equivalent of ancient child sacrifice. If you listen closely to what she’s saying, she’s admitting that she sacrificed her child on the altar of her career. She traded the life of her baby to protect her fame and increase her wealth. May God have mercy.
Center for Reproductive Rights@ReproRights

This is a must watch! Stevie Nicks speaks openly about the abortion that allowed her to continue her career at the height of Fleetwood Mac’s rise. She makes it plain: access to abortion made her life, her art, and her voice possible.

@TomBuck I was honored to chair this task force of faithful leaders committed to speaking with clarity and advancing unity and vitality in our shared mission of making disciples. It is my hope that similar efforts will be embraced by other state conventions and at the national level.

Southern Baptists from the “show me” state just showed Southern Baptists from every state how it can and should be done. “The title ‘pastor,’ regardless of qualifier, denotes this biblical office and should be reserved for those fulfilling its teaching, spiritual, and leadership responsibilities.” mbcpathway.com/wp-content/upl…

@albertmohler Just this week, I presented a task force report asking MBC messengers to affirm that the office of pastor—regardless of modifiers—is reserved for biblically qualified men & to update Credentials Committee procedures to uphold that stance. The motion passed overwhelmingly.

@griffingulledge @jaredcornutt The majority of messengers saw this coming, and if not for a well-intentioned but unfortunately shortsighted minority, we could have avoided this situation altogether. This is not the time to hedge, it is a time for decisive clarity.

@griffingulledge @jaredcornutt The need for something like the Law Amendment is clear. Stronger, more precise language only strengthens our position. There is no downside to greater clarity, but if we fail to act, we risk the credentials committee repeating such missteps.
