Just wrapped up a global Bitcoin podcast with @PaulaBTCEdge representing @NigeriaWomenBTC We had an engaging discussion about the impactful work we're involved with at NWB, Bitcoin from a woman’s lens, Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria, and the importance of financial sovereignty.

In Argentina we priced everything in dollars because pesos were unreliable. The switch wasn't ideological — it was survival. Bitcoin is the same shift, one layer deeper. In places like the US, where purchasing power erodes slowly, it feels like a conversation topic. So people discuss number go up. What Jeff proposes is different — time and energy as the unit of account. In that world Bitcoin has its own valuation and stops being dollar dependent. The funny thing is that once you enter that realm, the fiat side of your economy starts taking care of itself. You stop chasing the dollar value of Bitcoin. And somehow that's when things start compounding. People expecting Bitcoin to hit $1M don't understand that purchasing power erosion changes what that number actually means. Bitcoin measures time and energy. If you want more — you need more of both. I call that real life proof of work.

When you take just a 2-day trip to a foreign country, you never fully adjust to their currency. You constantly do the math in your head of what you're really spending. You have to move there... to Bitcoin Land!

Thanks Terence. This helps a lot. So it’s only if you go full Bitcoin. Let’s say you have 20 Bitcoin and you want to buy a house one day. Today that house could cost 15 BTC. In 5 years that house could be 1 or 2 BTC. That changes the % of net worth it would be. And if you keep adding to your stack because you get royalties or something it changes over time and also changes based on the USD price of the house. What am I missing here? I’m interviewing Jeff in a month. I want to get more people to understand this.

When you travel to South Africa you convert your dollars into Rand. It looks $1 USD = $17 ZAR (Rand). Once you've travelled to South Africa and converted to Rand, you think in terms of Rand. That's all you have is Rand because you are no longer in the U.S. So you now proportionally measure a purchase based on YOUR total supply of Rand (or future ability to acquire more). The challenge is that the proportion, of course, changes since the supply of Rand grows. But still, your adjust your brain to terms that make sense to you in Rand. Because adoption of Bitcoin is less than 1% right now... it's difficult for us to do this on our own without merchants, friends, the media, etc., pricing things in Bitcoin terms. But once you go full Bitcoin, it's easier. Your brain starts to think... oh, it's 10,000 Sats for a coffee today. Or it's 3,000,000 sats for my electricity bill. It's just like the US/Rand relationship. BUT... you know your exact proportion... your exact percentage of your wealth that you are spending. There's no central bank who can distort this exact percentage. And it's huge once you see it. It's why Jeff Booth keeps pounding this home because he now sees it. Wouldn't every personal finance expert out there IDEALLY love to know the exact percentage of their wealth that is going to say their mortgage or rent? In dollar terms they have a fluctuating number that really means nothing due to inflation. In Bitcoin terms you finitely can make a decision. Do I want to spend 1% of my wealth on this or that? You know no matter what that it will be exactly 1% of your wealth if measured solely in Bitcoin (or Sats).
