@randomvichar Using carefully chosen option trades, you can essentially borrow that money from your brokerage account on margin. If done right you won't incur margin interest, so it's a good way to get cheap loans using your equity as collateral.

I want to make use of following devices: > 1 ancient Samsung Android tablet. > 3 Samsung Galaxy phones. 3-5 years old. > Microsoft Surface > 2 decent laptops Only laptops are used, other devices not so much. Can't give away tab and phones because of risk of misuse. I have a RTL-SDR and and a PortaPack H2. Also one Raspberry Pi 3 running a PiHole and 2-3 Adruinos of different types. A fileserver with dockers is also available. What projects I can use them for?

@mufasaYC The original photo went somewhat viral within tech twt. Ppl were using it in memes to indicate Google was back in the AI race. Not surprising they reused it.

Because engineering difficulty increases dramatically with width, depth, wave energy, and direct exposure to the open sea. The southern mouth of the gulf (your black line), which opens directly into the Arabian Sea, is much wider and gets stronger tidal currents, deeper waters, cyclones, and harsher marine conditions. Constructing a barrier there would require far greater material, cost, and maintenance while also disrupting major shipping movement.

An Indian W that didn’t get the eyeballs it deserved today is the Netherlands agreeing to share their expertise in water management at Afsluitdijk for India’s Kalpasar Project. What’s Afsluitdijk? The Netherlands kept getting flooded because seawater from the North Sea entered deep into the country. The 32-km-long dam and sea barrier called the Afsluitdijk solved this by acting as a giant wall across the sea (red line in image 1), blocking seawater and turning the area into a controlled freshwater lake. India is planning something similar with the Kalpasar Project. Gujarat faces water shortages, uneven rainfall, and large amounts of river water flowing into the sea without being stored. The project aims to solve this by building a giant barrier across the Gulf of Khambhat (red line in image 2) to store freshwater, improve irrigation, and supply water to cities and industries. The signing of the Letter of Intent between India and the Netherlands for technical cooperation on the Kalpasar Project could finally bring this project, pending since the 1970s/80s, to life.

I just discovered the the USSR spent the entire Spanish civil war swindling the Republicans of their gold reserves! The Republicans sent most of their gold reserves to Moscow to avoid Franco getting its hands on it and to use to buy soviet weapons The USSR claimed it was giving the spaniards good "comrade" rates but was then cooking the exchange rates to charge the overwhelmed spaniards a fortune With friends like this... Ultimately the lack of gold in Spain led to devaluation and further hurt the legitimacy of the Republicans The Spanish never saw the gold again, with Stalin claiming it had been all used to pay for its transportation and to buy weapons from the USSR struggle.ws/spain/review_a…

The English have spent a thousand years giving them grief - Agincourt, Waterloo, endless Channel-side eye-rolling - and they just keep bouncing back with annoying flair. Silver medallists of Western civilisation, forever. They take a battlefield thrashing and turn it into a tragic romance with violins. They turn a baguette into a national religion. It’s ridiculous. And yet... Deep down (under several layers of warm beer and irony) the English can't help loving the French. They've been each other's favourite sparring partners for a millennium: proper rivals, proper brothers-in-arms, the only people who ever made each other raise their game. Respect? Sure, they've earned it. In great big glistening heaps of garlic butter. 🇫🇷🇬🇧

@Frankisalegend1 Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. But it's still Russia, with Sakha Republic involved, unsurprisingly. +25C, -61C on the same day, between Chechnya and Sakha. US has also seen similar differences historically. newsweek.com/russia-weather…

Data released by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in response to a freedom of information request, shows that the fuel switches to both engines were shut off simultaneously before China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 dropped out of the sky and crashed in March 2022. It was China’s deadliest air disaster in decades, but the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has not addressed the crucial question of what had prompted the deadly nosedive. The data was taken from the plane’s flight data recorder that record all relevant operational information — which was recovered from the wreckage and sent to the NTSB’s laboratory in Washington DC for analysis (with the agency’s involvement stemming from Boeing being a US aircraft manufacturer). “It was found that while cruising at 29,000 ft, the fuel switches on both engines moved from the run position to the cutoff position. Engine speeds decreased after the fuel switch movement,” the NTSB report said. China has not published an update into its investigation since 2024, when the CAAC released a statement on the two-year anniversary of the crash reiterating earlier findings that it found no problems with the aircraft, crew or weather conditions.

I was honestly curious about “SkillStorm” given its founders and co-founders are such low-IQ hypocrites online and I figured maybe it’s my fault. Maybe they’ve cracked it and I’m the one who’s not understanding. Based on 30 mins of reading on Reddit I can tell you it is worse than I initially thought it was. For anyone who worked in tech for a hot minute, it’s hard to distinguish this crap as the same thing TCS and Tech Mahindra and HCL and all the sweatshops/bodyshops with low pay and grueling hours do. No self-respecting American citizen would voluntarily subject themselves to this unless they had money needs or grueling circumstances and it is predatory to leech off of people this way.

I’ll give @SanDiegoKnight credit for engaging — respect for that, and I mean it sincerely. But here’s my question and my promise: You say LCA wages are “lowball.” Fine. I’ll donate $20K to your favorite Congressman pushing an H-1B ban if you can prove, apples-to-apples using SkillStorm’s full wage data (not cherry-picked examples), that SkillStorm pays above the certified LCA wage for the same role and location. Would you commit to that, to prove your company pays more than the LCA’s wages?

The only 18 year old I’ve ever met on this app that is actually a prodigy. 4 years ago he was just learning python and now he’s mogging entire generations for their choice of distro and useless languages. Love him or hate him he’s smarter than you.

My single most confident prediction about this shit show is that no matter what happens, in 4 years Hegseth and Don Jr and Eric types are all going to prison.. Trump is an amazing conman, but his shills are not gonna get to enjoy their billions.. ofc we will ALL suffer, but as peasants, we WILL enjoy seeing these clowns in prison..

USB4 is the most useless spec. I have a Minsiforum MS-S1 Max which as USB4-V2 ports. But every fucking thing in USB4 is optional as opposed to Thunderbolt which mandates a minimum. When you connect this USB4-V2 port to a Thunderbolt device or dock, it only connects as a TB3 device. What a fucking farce.
