Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is caused by lack of blood flow and oxygen to the brain at birth. But what if a little blue pill could change everything? Yes, *that* blue pill. Read more about Montreal doctor @PiaWintermark's once-unorthodox idea: begiant.ca/stories/people…

💙 — A thank you from Adam's parents 🏥👶 When baby Adam was born, he faced a serious challenge: he was deprived of oxygen and diagnosed with Hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). He was quickly transferred to the MCH, where our NICU team was ready to act. “Each member of the staff took the time to reassure us with kindness and compassion,” Adam’s parents shared. “I was relieved to see a team that was attentive to every detail, thinking as much about our baby as about us as parents.” Today, Adam’s family is grateful not only for the care he received but also for the chance to participate in a study led by Dr. Pia Wintermark, helping advance care for future patients. Thank you to his family for sharing their story with us.💙

Among preterm infants 22-28 weeks gestation, providing 100% oxygen during deferred cord clamping reduces early hypoxemia without increasing morbidity and mortality. ja.ma/3GXzPIP
