@sonnydyer94 @CNviolations Perfectly legal. Some states even allow lane splitting in traffic. That depends on the state. But it's considered to be generally safer to ride a bit faster than cars are going. I'm licensed to ride a bike on the road, but I only own an off road bike. Too much traffic here.

Every woman I know who doesn’t have children desperately wants them but is terrified that if they choose the wrong man and it doesn’t work out they’ll be demonized as single mothers. They’re selecting very carefully and that’s not an easy or quick thing for men or women to do.

@wolfstrength It would seem to me that, if your anthropometry makes squatting more difficult than average, discovering how to do it, with your body being what it is, could be life-changing in a positive way.

Deep Squats, Shallow Thoughts
One of the myths that won't die is that "not everyone is built to squat." Sometimes it's presented more sophisticatedly, as "acetabular depth and femoral neck angle vary between individuals. Some people genuinely can't squat without hip impingement regardless of technique." This is one of those things that's factual but not truthful. There is variance in these things between individuals, and you can theoretically find someone whose internal hip anatomy is such that squatting is contraindicated. But in practice, those people are so rare as to be non-existent. It might be good to keep in mind as a severe outlier possibility, but 99.99% of the time when someone says this, it's covering for a lack of ability in doing or coaching the squat. I used to be one of the people who thought this. I've posted before how many of the fitness and lifting experts I read in the late 2000s into the early 2010s would constantly write articles to the effect of: "Squatting is great but not everyone can do it. Here's 7 great alternatives to work the legs instead!" I bought it at first because they were well respected experts who trained athletes and serious lifters, who traveled nationally and even internationally to lecture. Then I learned how to actually coach the squat, and magically and mysteriously, never encountered such a person. To this day I have coached a total of ONE such person out of several thousand, for whom this MIGHT have been an issue. I'm not 100% sure, but only one for whom it's a possibility. Out of thousands. And it took 7-8 years of full time coaching, well over 2000 people in between, after I stopped reading those articles to even encounter this one single MAYBE. The sample size is too big to be a coincidence. When you take into account the many thousands more who have attended SS Seminars and Training Camps over the past 15 years all of whom can be taught to squat to depth within a single session, the idea becomes absurd. This is a classic example of pseudo sophistication covering for a lack of practical knowledge in how to actually coach. Do such people exist? Probably. I will stipulate for the sake of argument that they do. But they are such a tiny % of the population that for practical purposes, the chances of a given coach ever encountering one are nil. It's like Whipple’s disease. It's good to know it exists, but if you started diagnosing people with it whenever they have joint pain or diarrhea, you'll be doing 99.99% of your patients a massive disservice. Meanwhile this line parroted by coaches who don't know how to coach the squat, has been used as excuse by many people who can squat just fine, to avoid it. It can't die soon enough.

What do you call people who are vehemently against war no matter the threat or necessity, actively telling people to not vote for candidates on the right, pushing for fully government funded healthcare and other social programs, and fully backing Islamists tied to the Muslim Brotherhood to hinder our strategic alliances?

@Hybridathlete Also, subjective perceptions are really important for motivation. A total noob taking his bench from 65 to 95, will feel like he is really becoming a different person, within weeks. Losing 3 lbs in the same period without gaining muscle, won't feel good at all.

@Pointer_Chaser Yep. And if someone's main goal is to add muscle mass and they are already very under-muscled, telling them they need to start by getting even skinnier and likely worse looking is not a good plan.

If you've never lifted, your BMI is <22, and you want a better physique, you should not start with a cut. I don't care how skinny-fat you look. At a BMI of <22, you are under-muscled. If adding muscle mass is the long term goal, you need to start lifting ASAP.

@EmilioMrcxds @Hybridathlete Why not? Everything depends on context! Gaining muscle when you're at >30% body fat, and eating at a deficit, is really easy. 20% isn't bad. What you can do when you're at 13% and trying for 7% is radically different from when you're at 35% shooting for <20%.

@gregogallagher Bench tends to benefit from girth, due to angles and leverages. I dropped from 245 to 200 and my bench went down. Granted, that was from 325 to 315... but that 315 felt harder. So this is a mixed bag.

If you bench 250 lbs for 5 And weigh 200 lbs And you cut to 180 and bench press goes down to 225 lbs for 5. Relative strength is the same. This is terrible. Relative strength must improve or you are losing too much muscle. Body composition improves when relative strength increases.

@Gh0stofDrLange @jerryteixeira @Archer83Able This has nothing to do with Iran, at all. The Air Force has wanted to retire them for years. The Army and especially the Marines love them for CAS, and the Air Force never adopted another plane to fill the same role.

aerospaceglobalnews.com/news/a10-warth… A10 is getting to is max airframe lifespan. 2026 was the date for many to be retired due to it's life cycle. Yet we have extended it lifespan to 2029. In aviation that is very telling to our desperation to the situation. It will become critical for it's maintenance to be much more extensive to keep it operating. Excuse my lack of confidence in this move. We have lost critical radar, so we rely on these older models to return. Reminds me of the Korean War.

@BeeTee2887 Oh yeah. This POV video is a mid engine racer, but captures the raw experience of an air cooled flat 6 Porsche with that manual steering like nothing I've seen. Car is ~55 years old and still thrilling. youtu.be/fbPoBGKf0C4?si…

@Pointer_Chaser I learned on a 1979 Chevy S10, 4 speed. Also no power steering, but it was way more of a hassle than the Porsche lol

This is like debating which is better, a brand new Tesla or a 1984 Porsche 911. The Tesla is cool and has a lot of sweet gadgets and fun tools to take advantage of. It's a great car. But the Porsche is a total experience. Rear wheel, manual transmission, no self driving, hell it doesn't even have power steering. It sounds way better, even if it drives way worse. When you punch it out of the gas station parking lot and kick out the ass while ripping it into 2nd gear, and kept in control without lifting, you've earned something.

@BeeTee2887 A roommate had a 3 on the tree Ford, but I don't think I've ever driven one. I've had that racing H 5, then regular 4, 5, and 6. Best shifter, I think, was a 2002 MX5 Miata with a short throw, close ratio 6. Shifted with a wrist flick. Intriguing news: robbreport.com/motors/cars/po…

@BeeTee2887 I don't drive my 5 speed, when I'm driving my 6 speed. Automatic transmissions are the work of Satan. I learned to drive manual on a 1972 914, with the old Racing H pattern. I still think that configuration has its merits.

@Pointer_Chaser I drove 5-speeds all throughout my 20s—don’t now for obvious reasons—and my buddy asked me to show him how. He bought an ‘84 Porsche but couldn’t drive it. The funniest car I’ve ever driven, hands down. And yeah, steering was not problem at all.

@paulb3rd Heavy low rep compound lifts, I notice. High rep sets used by many bodybuilders? Not so much. That may be why I also don't find glucose to be important, but others do. 5 reps is about where the primary energy system shifts from PC to glycogen, at least in theory.

I am giving creatine another try. I am about 3 weeks in. My stomach is handling 5mg okay. More than that, it's shit my pants. I honestly notice no difference with or without it. Never have. Am I the only one who feels like it basically does nothing?
