I hung the bird house 4 days ago when I started this account, so far I’ve had zero birds and zero followers.

@realpeteyb123 Hunter Biden is a dangerous man. He has a unique combination of intelligence and the “I don’t give a fuck” attitude that comes from surviving addiction. That’s a powerful mix. I’m here for it.

@Post40_ @rawhide_dutch @Raoul_Duke419 @honor_dennis 🙄 let's use those imaginary numbers. Even the high end. 130K for repairs plus the 40k for the property I posted. That set you at 180k. Mortgages payments on that are less than 1100$ a month. Compared to the 1800+ rents you people are complaining about.

Exactly. I grew up in one of those post war Levitt homes. We didn’t have A/C, dishwasher, washer & Dryer, we had 1 13” B&W tv, no ceiling fans, 100 amp service with fuses, Single pane windows, rockwool insulation, carport, 3 bed 1 bathroom for a family of 6. Our driveway consisted of two concrete slabs the width of the tires. It was still a great house and fantastic memories. My parents lived 50+ years in that house until they passed.

How could families afford a home in the 1950s on a single income? Because they lived within their means and lived without all the "must haves" today. The people in the 1950 were realistic, grateful and happy. People of today (the complainers) are unrealistic, entitled and miserable.

Gift wrapped?? The place is gutted. Likely gutted because of water or mold. What amateur homeowner is going to come in and DIY this? I’d add another $50k to $130k in DIY and god forbid you have to bring in contractors you’re looking at up to $200k on top of the quarter million just to acquire the place. If it was any kind of deal a flipper would have acquired it already.

@Post40_ @rawhide_dutch @Raoul_Duke419 @honor_dennis No one is going to giftwrap you a 3500 square foot 4 bd 3 bath home and give it too you for free. You are going to have to do SOME and put SOMETHING into it yourself. Entitled lazy fuck. Yes you gotta work on it some. Boo-fucking-hoo

Sad seeing so many hardliners in the comments of this post. I plan to give my kids all 18 years to explore, have fun, and figure out what they actually enjoy before the machine gets them. I couldn’t care less about building a resume at 16, they’ll have the rest of their lives to work.

My 16yr old son finished his first shift at his first job last night. Picked him up at 10pm and he looked beat. He was a little sad on the way home. I asked what was wrong. He said he felt like he’s growing up too fast and that his childhood is over now.

@oliveegger I sure did. He was the only boy in the class, but he loved it.

@wrowclif With our first, I wrote a full page letter to the maternity ward naming nurses and thanking them for how incredible the experience was. Same hospital for our second during Covid: all traveling nurses and we were basically booted out after 24 hours.

Kind of a bummer that you meet the best nurses having a baby and then as quick as you meet them you never see them again.

The boy and I took the kick scooters on an adventure down to the Mississippi River. He’s officially hit the “watch this” phase of scooting.

I just put a few tomato cages around the peonies to try and keep them upright through the rain. Hopefully the extra support helps them throw out more blooms than they have in the past.

When doing work around the house, one of the best gifts you can give your future self is allowing time for cleanup. Nothing sucks worse than returning the next day to sort through the pile of tools you panic tossed into the shed because you drained the tank on the work.

Leaving something incomplete is probably one of the bigger mistakes we humans make. In my experience, it’s much harder to return and finish a job later than to fight through and finish it the first time.

There is a lot of chest puffing from boomers about their hard nosed parenting compared to today’s more child centered styles. Truth is, there’s less heroics in parenting than people think. Most of it is the culture and economics of the times flowing through generations.

Watching my cousins' parents transition into becoming grandparents is interesting because all of a sudden they have all this money to spend on new things that my cousins never got to experience as children.

I think people underestimate how much consistency is tied to enjoyment. I’ve hated the one arm row for nearly a year and kept forcing it anyway. Today I dropped it. No point poisoning the workout over one dreaded lift.
