I always had a lot of respect for Strauss just being a pretty smart guy.
I think he's exactly right and I think people are overdramatizing the effect AI will have on everything. It's just another nice tool in the toolbox, but it being able to completely replace people is just a ridiculous idea that's clearly just being peddled to make investors throw tons of money at AI companies.
What'll ultimately happen is that some of the monkey work we had to do in the past, we won't have to do anymore, so we'll be able to do more complex things in the future. That's about it. And that's actually pretty great.
But so far, all the usefulness that I've seen from AI usually has to come with someone who already knows what he's doing driving it meticulously.

@HipHopGamer Nah bro this is AI slop trash. If you want your games to look like shitty YouTube AI thumbnails that’s cool, but people are rightly rejecting this stuff. We don’t want every game to have this same homogenized soulless appearance. This outrage is REAL.

The people who think "realistic" means "better" don't understand artistic intent. They will never understand why this is bad for games. This will homogenize every title, killing actual artistic vision. This is not something we should champion. Thankfully, the majority of gamers reject this.

This whole DLSS 5 Ai Discourse in a nutshell. Max has great points here, many people people got tricked into thinking it looks good but if you look at the overall picture it actually looks like Shit, this Ai Horseshit doesn't know where the light source is supposed to be and it just makes up random features of characters. artists in video games have always been limited by technological constraints. As time goes on, new tech features remove more of those contsraints. That's what DSSL 5 does. The artists themselves have to choose to use it, meaning it aligns with their creative vision. Why is this too complicated for you all to understand?

@Prontoshot I disagree, Photoshop is a tool built around the creator.
AI (Gen AI specifically) isn't built to be compatible with a creators workflow.
It's engineered to waste your time and cut salaries.
They are fundamentally different.
