This dog's name was Gunner. My uncle brought him back from WW2. He was raised and slept under my uncle's anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their rations to feed him. By the time he was 18 months old, my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he laid back down they knew all was ok. If he growled and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He knew the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he never got it wrong. He said Gunner was better than any early warning system. I'm probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now, so I thought I'd tell it before it's lost forever, like many stories must be from that time. Thanks for reading it.

I was asked the other day where my passion for Royal History comes from? It all started when I was a little girl in the late 70’s early 80’s. My grandad took me, by bus, to Buckingham Palace most Sunday mornings to watch the changing of the guard 💂 I remember I had a 10p piece in my pocket, and a note with my grandparents phone number on, in case we got separated (we never did). But I was fascinated by the palace and the thought of the Queen, and wanted to know as much as I could about the monarchy, so there were many library visits and I received history books for birthdays and Christmases. As I got a bit older there were trips to all the London Royal residences. I always dreamed of becoming a historian, even as I first started high school, but the history taught wasn’t of interest to me and I started to lose interest. I left school and went straight into work and over the years I lived life. I worked towards a good career, I got married, I had my son, I got divorced and became a single parent and I worked hard until I was an area manager. My dream of becoming a historian was a distant memory. But I still loved reading anything, fact or fiction, linked to the Royal Family and their history. A few years ago, in my mid-40’s, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and heartbreakingly I had to give up my career. My son had also left home for university around the same time and I felt I didn’t have a purpose anymore. I joined X a couple of years ago after watching @the_royal_rogue on YouTube, he spoke about X and the Royal community and I was intrigued that there were others who had the same opinion as me about the #MontecitoMorons (And wow what a community you are as well ♥️ I’ve made some incredible friends and the love and support I’ve received over the last few months as I fought pneumonia, my ankle injury as subsequent depression has been nothing short of amazing 🥰♥️) I digress…a few months after joining X, while probably moaning about feeling useless to my son, he suggested that I should write ‘little snippets’ of Royal History and post, just to give me something to do, so that’s what I did. Obviously those little snippets have now become, in depth, multi-parted posts (I think it’s common knowledge that I’m prone to rambling 🤭). When I get my books out and I start researching and writing, I finally feel like I have a purpose again. So thank you! I really do appreciate every single one of you who take the time to read, respond and repost any of my posts, and when I thank you for taking the time to read, I genuinely mean it from the bottom of my heart ♥️ In some small way you’re helping ‘little Rachael’ live her dream 🥰 Rachael ♥️♥️ #RachaelsHistoryFacts #RoyalFamilyHistory #History #RoyalFamily #Monarchy

@SandyofSuffolk I think they believe they are all so special they believe the social media crap that they are fed constantly then all of a sudden real life kicks in and they are not equipped to deal with it. Life is hard we were taught that Work is good for mental health have a focus and dream

Just heard on BBC Radio Suffolk there are 70,000 under 18's on anti depressants. Are doctors to blame for handing them out like sweets? Are parents to blame for not instilling in their kids the realities that life isn't always a bed of roses? Are the kids just attention seekers using it as an excuse to get out of working? Or what?
