Sees a video of an Israeli harassing a Palestinian and immediately thinks about how it makes it ok to borrow slang from nazis, who use "goy" mainly on white westerners, who they believe to be the main victims of Israel
Faust 🧙‍♂️☢️@toffee_32

you have this guy just yelling GOY GOY GOY GOY while harassing palestinians and people on here still act outraged when the goys use it as a reappropiated slur for stupid memes and go NOOOO IT'S NOT ACTUALLY USED AS A SLUURRR lmao

@TenontosaurusT parasites are only even considered living because they can reproduce at a cellular level. otherwise, they would be deemed non-living, similar to viruses. they cannot even survive without a host. i feel empathy for everything down to a mosquito, but this is a tough one

@PutridPanman @Crollzy1 does anyone in the world still use f4g to refer to homos? obviously not. the meanings change with culture

@Crollzy1 @muffynbunarts Even though it's still heavily associated with it, so you can't even make an argument that it's some obscure etymology like with "moron" or "imbecile"

@Crollzy1 @muffynbunarts Regardless of intention, it is an ableist slur. It's odd that you guys are trying pretend that it's not related to mental disability

@PutridPanman you are in fact missing something, said eschatological mindset serves as a psychological escape valve that makes it actually fine to ignore long term problems like climate change because Jesus will return before it matters

@MinModulation Well, similarly to defense mechanisms in organisms, these behaviors naturally arise because they're needed for larger established systems (such as capitalism, the state, or the patriarchy) to propagate. Their mistake is thinking that natural is inherently good

That concept arises from the idea of society as an organism, with an "immune system" keeping things pure & orderly - When you see a conservative talk about "healthiness", whether it be individuals or society, this is what they're imagining in their heads, like Osmosis Jones

@EcoTechBro It's kinda ironic that they often call anarchists reactionary, while the majority of Stalin's fans are Russian conservatives who also tend to admire Russian monarchs, including Nicholas II. Being from a post Soviet country and seeing the nonsense stalinists say is quite something

@christasyd Maybe I just lack imagination but I struggle to see how this would work. It does call for compassion, but it still says that homosexual feelings should be suppressed. I guess if someone is just violently homophobic, it could help them settle into a less violent type of homophobia

@PutridPanman In my country this argument is what helps me to educate people against homophobia by explaining its context. I’m sorry that this platform frustratingly takes out nuances but I just wish people are more open to listen and understand where I’m coming from with this.

@christasyd They're hardly indicative of progressivism, I live in a country where being gay is borderline illegal, and these types of arguments are used all the time.

@christasyd You know that the position you described in the screenshot is just a bunch of dog whistles to justify homophobia while sounding nice?

@DomainDead I don't think I have ever seen anyone really elaborate on this point. There are certainly areas where this applies, but whether or not it's capable of doing that depends on context and execution, not just the subject matter, especially with art as abstracted as most anime

Lemme make this abundantly clear: if you promote hentai of children, I consider you a pedophile. I don’t care if it’s “just drawings” or “fictional” You are normalizing abuse. You are making excuses for rape and pedophilia. You are scum to me.

@Is_Not_Brian @GramsciGordon Also even if it wasn't one, how is calling deliberate ethnically motivated slaughter of civilians a genocide "disgusting" and "cynical"? Are you people really willing to sink that low for the sake of, what for you is, just another culture war topic?
