@StefanMolyneux It was possible at first, but graduating students (or their more savvy parents) realized that the student, an adult, had no real assets and so other than the hit to their credit, bankruptcy would clear the debt. Congress caught on quickly and amended the bankruptcy law.

Why on earth can you not discharge student loans through bankruptcy?
