My comment was made with limited information earlier today (7:00 AM PST) and I was reacting to first reports. I have since looked at the footage and the set up that was in place did contain the shooter outside of the secured area. My original comment was made with the premise that access control to the secured area "in there" is what the USSS needs to ensure the President is safe. Not that they need to search 1100 rooms and a few thousand guests. I see your point @Eirerogue00. I should have chosen my words more carefully. I can admit when I make a mistake.

Call me crazy, but if the Secret Service is doing its job, every single room in that hotel is secured before Donald Trump and his wife walk through the door. Anything less is a failure.
