@PaulBliton @FGPTP @AdamMeakins Beattie 2008 the Level 5 evidence clinical commentary for IVD disease? Or am looking at the wrong thing? The other I can't find. Can you post links and I'll have a read.

Should Williams flexion exercises still be advocated for with acute low back pain?

@PaulBliton @AdamMeakins I wouldn't be able to attribute his symptoms soley to an exercise with any certainty? So i wouldnt demonize that movement. Its a little arrogant to claim you know exactly why he developed radic symptoms. Ive rehabbed plenty of patients with directional preference post back injury

@RWphysio @AdamMeakins He had back pain with a lifting injury, did flexion exercises because of transient relief, and then developed a radic. What would you say if a patient came to see you and this was there course of care from another physio?

@AdamMeakins Didn't even know Williams Flexion Exercises were a thing until tonight. I'm going to reflect on whether that makes me a good physio or bad. Find it hard to make the leap from back pain relieving flexion to "don't do exercises named by some surgeon in 1930s because they're bad"

Yeah right… because me doing some pain free movements when I was in agony for a few weeks is the sole reason why persistent back pain treatments haven’t improved! Honestly Paul do you want to stop with this nonsense now, apologise and move on, or keeping digging your hole?
Paul Bliton@PaulBliton

We have supposed high level PTs performing Williams flexion exercises for acute back pain associated with a lifting injury in the year 2021. Then we wonder why our outcomes with back pain haven’t improved over the years.

@Conor_Harris_ What you're talking about in your post has been peddled since the 80's. 'Lower cross syndrome', 'imbalances' etc. Janda's work in this area was prolific during the 80s and 90s. The majority of which is no longer backed by robust clinical evidence. 🤷‍♂️

@RWphysio PRI was not even around in the 1980s 🤷🏻‍♂️. I am not basing my info on that.

Amy suffered with Bell’s Palsy in Nov18. She recovered most of her facial movement herself, & eventually came to see me because she wanted to smile without her eye closing. 6 weeks later...🙂 @physiocouk #BellsPalsy #physio

@RWphysio @AdamMeakins Cheers Rick - people seem to get very agitated on this thread about 3x10!!!! When programmed appropriately it’s an effective strategy...they key is understanding when to use it and when to look for a different set/rep strategy based on the rehab outcomes

Disappointing to hear/see physios still over complicating and under loading ‘strength’ and ‘endurance’ rehab exercises for ACJ issues... Just the usual 3x10 with NO focus on the intensity, load, or RIR! #SportsKongres 😖
