Its that time again where rumors start to spread about the estimated performance of next-gen Xbox Console being faster than the PS6. The same debate happened with Series X being faster than the PS5 for having more TFLOPs. I think its pretty clear that current generation of consoles have already proven that its not about which console has more power, but games themselves. You can have the world's most powerful machine, but if you don't give gamers a compelling reason to buy, they will stick to what they currently have or choose the other option. I have to admit that Project Helix being capable of playing both console and PC games is awesome, one platform for every Xbox and PC game that you have is quite compelling

I've seen a lot of speculation online that the unpatched disc version of RE Requiem uses PSSR 1. As far as I can tell, this isn't the case. In a variety of shots the image treatment on the pre-patch and post-patch versions look very similar. And Sony's sample screenshots (from the PS Blog) again suggest all retail game versions use PSSR 2. The PSSR 1 sample markedly diverges from the others.

Well now we know officially, Sony wanted to do Bloodborne remake FROMSOFTWARE has denied it.

Returnal was my GOTY in 2021. Saros looks likely to be a strong contender in 2026. Everything about this gameplay clip sings to me. The bullet hell effects, particles, controls, fluidity, sound design, visuals, art. Just chefs_kiss. #SAROS #PS5

There's disingenuous revisionist history going on among #Xbox circles pretending Series X/S hardware sales declines aggressively got worse only AFTER the "This is an Xbox" advertising campaign, to scapegoat Sarah Bond. Data proves that's a lie. The campaign started Nov 14th 2024, or the middle of Q2 FY25 (MS starts FY labels the year after). Xbox's hardware declines started over 2 and a half years BEFORE the This is an Xbox campaign ever started. Xbox's worst hardware decline percentage of the entire gen was nearly 3 quarters BEFORE the campaign. Xbox's hardware decline actually improved significantly the quarter after the marketing campaign began (Q3 FY25), before returning to similar declines as before. Do I think it was a poor marketing campaign that devalued the Xbox console? Yes. But based on factual data, no, the campaign wasn't what aggressively accelerated hardware declines, it just didn't do anything to reverse the one's that were already taking place. Keep in mind hardware decline is expected towards the tail end of a generation, more so when it coincides with late console hardware price increases and limited holiday sales. What data shows is that Xbox hardware started more aggressively declining from the time Xbox announced its games were going to #PS5 (Feb 2024 or Q3 FY24). Anyone with any common sense could've guessed Xbox losing even console exclusives might have that effect. Exclusives sell consoles. But not only did those PS5 ports start getting ported several months BEFORE Sarah Bond was made president of Xbox, but even as president she was still answering to Phil Spencer, who was ultimately her boss and Microsoft Gaming CEO. So while she might not be blameless, the buck stops with Phil and/or higher. Further still, it's important to understand WHY Xbox was pushed towards a full multiplatform strategy. Their hardware AND software sales were already massively declining, and Game Pass subscribers were not only catastrophically well below Xbox's internal targets, having missed 3 years of growth targets in a row, but subscribers also DECLINED from late 2022 to early 2024. According to FTC leaked Microsoft data, Xbox had 36.7m Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold Subscribers at the end of 2022, when it was announced they had 34m at the beginning of 2024 (after turning Xbox Live Gold into GP Core). A decline of nearly 3m subs! Ultimately, things were already dire for Xbox consoles off of the back of myriad other failings pre-dating both the ad campaign and Sarah Bond becoming president of Xbox.

Some people who were celebrating the "downfall" of Xbox as a console brand after Phil Spencer left seriously need to reconsider the ramifications of what the future of gaming will be if Sony has no competitors left. If it wasn't for Xbox 360 competing with PS3, Sony tried to sell it for $499 and $599 which is equivalent to $700 and $850 worth in today's dollars for base consoles alone. With no competitors left, there's nothing stopping Sony from cutting the prices of their consoles as the generation reaches its end of life or selling the base console at a loss.
