I’m 34 years old, and I am not blinded by political propaganda. I do not buy the empty rhetoric my government is using to justify war with Iran. I don’t watch Fox News. The playbook is clear and has been used repeatedly to escalate wars in the Middle East for as long as I’ve been alive. The information is public and available for anyone willing to look. You have to be completely blind, or willfully ignorant to not see what’s going on right now. There is no in-between. I am not moved by these fake ass patriots who flip-flop on their stance depending on what’s currently trending. Miss me with that bullshit.

@ChrisMartzWX It's not billionaires I have a problem with. It's the single digit number of megacorps that own almost the entirety of the businesses. They hold absurd influence over our governments and we can't legitimately fight them in any meaningful way via the legal system.

Billionaires don't make your life miserable. Government, however, does because of burdensome regulations and ever-increasing taxes. Most billionaires are CEOs of companies that provide products and services that have improved the quality of life. You don't really hate billionaires for having money. You envy of them because you're a loser who has accomplished nothing in life.

@RockChartrand I don't think I'm really libertarian, but I do oppose the government in any and all scenarios in which it "rules" over us. It can represent us, speak on our behalf and enforce the laws that we allow it to create, but it should have no real authority over the people as a whole.

There’s a growing strain of self described libertarians whose only consistent position is opposition to the U.S., not a defense of liberty. Criticizing your own country when it violates rights is principled. Reflexively siding against it, even when the alternative is openly authoritarian, isn’t. At that point, it stops being about liberty and starts looking like contrarianism dressed up as principle. The tell is consistency: Do they oppose violations of rights everywhere, or only when it’s politically convenient? Because if someone condemns U.S. overreach but excuses or ignores regimes that crush speech, property, and dissent entirely, they’re not applying a standard, they’re reacting to a target.

i am finding this whole line of reasoning around "almost failed" and "why did they put more lives and equipment at risk to save one person?" baffling. do people really not understand that this is what drives a whole military and makes it work, what gives it confidence and morale? one day, it might be you. and we will not leave you behind. we will come for you. we do not count costs, we get our people back. and everyone in the service knows this. do people not understand why that's important, how it keeps us coherent and brave and unified? that seems a wild and egregious lapse in comprehension. it also seems like a weirdly situational cricicism. we routinely applaud 8 firefighters entering a burning house to save one person. we do not fret about it or cry about damage to a firetruck. we laud the bravery and the nobility of the action. we take comfort that if it were ever us, someone would come. "firefighter lives needlessly endangered saving kitten from tree" would be a churlish and bereft headline yet it seems to be a popular one here. and i really don't get it. it's either some deep, fundamental failure of comprehension or it's just such political derangement that people are forgetting that one can oppose a war or a president and not need to invert every single issue every single time even and especially when it makes one immoral and wrong. if you want to oppose a war, oppose a war, but to cast soldiers rescuing their own as some sort of ill-conceived notion is simply base.
