Nobody is building in LA b/c Nithya and others pushed for a 5.5% tax on apartment buildings (ULA). Taxes are often used as a policy stick to curtail negative behavior (ie cigarettes, gasoline, carbon). If you’re not trying to repeal ULA, you’re not serious about lowering rents.

GAP has been closing stores all over the country over the last 25 years. 80% of all stores are now gone due to over reliance on malls and spending shifts to online post-pandemic.

Even my most tapped-in California Dem friends don't have a Governor candidate they love. Folks have fully tuned out this election, and the lower-polling candidates are selfishly staying in the race. Truly feels like a disaster brewing if the party can't get people to drop out.
