I need to thank the people working in my lab and our alumni whose hard work, teamwork, and creativity helped to make this possible. I look forward to our continued work together as we endeavor to push the field forward, make new discoveries, and impact the change patient care.

It would be too many people to acknowledge everyone here but I want to offer my thanks to every one of you.

I am excited to share that I have been promoted to Full Professor with Tenure at Weill Cornell Medicine. I want to thank my family, mentors, collaborators, and the many colleagues and friends in and out of the field who have pushed, supported, and helped me over the years.

I’m a doctor who has seen people die from vaccine-preventable diseases. What parents need to hear right now is vaccines for measles, polio, hepatitis B and other childhood diseases are safe and effective and will not cause autism. Any statement to the contrary is wrong, irresponsible, and actively makes Americans sicker. We need to understand the real causes of autism. Studies show there’s a genetic predisposition when a mom who’s pregnant is exposed to environmental toxins which can increase a child’s risk of autism. It’s deeply troubling that, according to HHS officials, they appeared to have canceled hundreds of millions in research on autism genetics. Redirecting attention to factors we definitely know DO NOT cause autism denies families the answers they deserve. We had two children die and many more hospitalized nationally from measles this year. Louisiana is experiencing its worst whooping cough outbreak in 35 years. Families are getting sick and people are dying from vaccine-preventable deaths, and that tragedy needs to stop.

On Amtrak train 90 to NYP. Not moving yet again. @Amtrak tired of the excuses. 4 hours late on a 3 hour trip. Amtrak execs need to go abroad to learn how to run trains. I'd suggest going to Japan for a start.

Heading down to DC for the AASLD Liver Meeting 2025. Looking forward to presenting our work, seeing the latest clinical innovations, and meeting up with colleagues and making new ones.

Major congrats to First author Saloni Sinha who help to lead this project in the lab. We surprisingly found that hepatic zonation is very perturbed and altered and there is development of cells with aberrant gene expression during aging. #Liver #LiverDisease

Our latest paper is out in Hepatology. We found that aging causes loss of the unique organization and communication of the cells of the liver. It may inform the development of new therapies targeting age-associated liver dysfunction. news.weill.cornell.edu/news/2025/07/s…

Funds were limited and normal high-quality tissue samples for each organ are not equally available. We obviously are eager to expand this so any funds you are aware of would be very helpful.

We believe that further dissection and insights of these processes regulating HBV cccDNA formation and function will identify additional vulnerabilities that could be used to target HBV infection and hopefully drive HBV cure. cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Recognizing the importance that HBV chromatinization plays in regulating this process we tested drug compounds known to impair chromatin formation. One drug CBL137 (currently in clinical trials for other purposes) greatly impaired HBV viral replication and infection.
