Great after last night's Trail Blazers home win here in #RipCity to meet these standout kids from Hawaii. They're in Portland to get YouthLine training from our local heroes at @Lines_for_Life so they can go home & help young Hawaiians facing mental health challenges.

The Secretary of State grinning in a picture with an actual domestic terrorist no longer shocks, but it should.

@BasedMikeLee Senator this is precisely why ICE agents shouldn’t wear masks - BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT CARTEL HITMEN DO.

For the lawyers on this platform, can Trump actually keep the Nobel Peace Prize or is this covered under the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act? (i'm not pretending he won't keep it. just curious about the law, quaint as that is)

@EricColumbus @joshgerstein @samstein I mean this is ridiculous on every level, but let’s start with the fact that the legal “analysis” assumes he received the prize from the Nobel Committee - but he didn’t, he received it from a foreign agent seeking to be installed as the leader of a foreign country

There are times you know a politician wrote his or her own stuff This from @timkaine is one of those times “President Trump’s unauthorized military attack on Venezuela to arrest Maduro—however terrible he is—is a sickening return to a day when the United States asserted the right to dominate the internal political affairs of all nations in the Western Hemisphere. That history is replete with failures, and doubling down on it makes it difficult to make the claim with a straight face that other countries should respect the United States’ sovereignty when we do not do the same. “Where will this go next? Will the President deploy our troops to protect Iranian protesters? To enforce the fragile ceasefire in Gaza? To battle terrorists in Nigeria? To seize Greenland or the Panama Canal? To suppress Americans peacefully assembling to protest his policies? Trump has threatened to do all this and more and sees no need to seek legal authorization from people’s elected legislature before putting servicemembers at risk. “It is long past time for Congress to reassert its critical constitutional role in matters of war, peace, diplomacy and trade. My bipartisan resolution stipulating that we should not be at war with Venezuela absent a clear congressional authorization will come up for a vote next week. We’ve entered the 250th year of American democracy and cannot allow it to devolve into the tyranny that our founders fought to escape.”

NYT's @grynbaum suggests Weiss didn't pull the CECOT segment because of editorial issues -- it was about not angering Trump because David Ellison of Paramount needs his backing for his hostile bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery nytimes.com/2025/12/21/bus…

@nickschifrin @SecRubio @SenatorRounds I’m old enough to remember (FOUR days ago) when major news outlets reported that this plan might bring peace THIS WEEK. Now it turns out it was a Russian stalking horse which serious people can’t ditch fast enough.

BREAKING: After talking to @SecRubio, @SenatorRounds announces that the 28 point plan was a Russian document, not a US document. Full @SenatorRounds: "@SecRubio did make a phone call to us this afternoon. I think he made it very clear to us that we are the recipients of a proposal that was delivered to one of our representatives. It is not our recommendation, it is not our peace plan. It is a proposal that was received. And as an intermediary, we have made arrangements to share it. And we did not release it. It was leaked. It was not released by our members or our representatives... This is an opportunity to receive it and that it has been utilized and delivered to the Ukrainians, and that they will have an opportunity to respond. And in doing so, you now have one side being presented and the opportunity for the other side to respond."

I've been reporting in East Africa on the impact of President Trump's USAID cuts, and I find that not only are children dying in large numbers but the pace is accelerating as stockpiles run out and people grow weaker. I also obtained an internal Trump administration memo stating that the cost of shutting down USAID is $6.4 billion over two years. That sum could save more than 1 million children's lives; instead, it is being spent to to shut down programs that save lives. Help spread the word. nytimes.com/2025/09/20/opi…
